Lesson here is there are a LOT of flight instructors out there with 1400 hours.

In case you were wondering I was offered the job and turned it down. They said they wanted to raise starting pay to $30/hr for FO's and up from there but the union wouldn't let them. In the next breath they said $1600 for 8 weeks of training ($800/mo) and shared hotel room. I'm pretty sure the union didn't keep them from giving us our own room in training.... Really turned me off.

You passed up a job because you had to share a room? I heard that if you make bunk beds you have more room for activities..

That, the "fib" and the low pay. I already have a flying job that pays pretty well. I was going to them because I have a bunch of free time, live in domicile, would like some 121 experience and it looked like fun. The problem is it would cost me over $7000 in lost wages to take the time to train with them. On top of that I'd be sharing a room for 2 months with some guy I don't even know?

It may sound silly, but you gotta draw the line somewhere.

Don't tell me you want to raise my pay, then say you won't fork out "corporate rate" at some 1 or 2 star hotel for me.

I understand, been there its a tough choice to make, but most regionals are double bunking people. CRJ side at XJT is the only one that I know that doesn't make people double up. I am interviewing with Republic at the end of the month... I also do not know what I will do, I will be cutting my pay in half.. seems like a no brainer to not take it... but I would like to get some more 121 time to go with my flight time so I can get to a major...

Yeah, my buddy at AE told me they were getting thier own rooms after the first week. I don't know about Skywest.

Remember, free drinks at the Embassy Suites end at 7:30. :D They seem like they want to hire everyone that is there so just don't screw up and you'll be G2G. Good luck on your interview!

True.

The ibt Refused the company offer to increase fo's wages; because they felt it violated the contract.

Good PR for the ibt, sucks for the fo's.

Good for you. If only everyone else had the same attitude they might be forced to offer something more reasonable.
Those guys won't be getting my resume. Not for all the Tea in China!

That's BS! The company tried to implement a new pay rate without an LOA. Allowing that to happen would then allow the company to change any rate, up or down, as they saw fit. The union told the company to offer the raise in a legal LOA and they would present it to the membership for a vote. We're still waiting.

Also worth noting, two years ago the IBT went to the company with an LOA to extend the FO rates out past four years, averaging the same increase received from year 2 to 3 and from 3 to 4. The company declined.

Don't believe the company's lies.

These guys all upgraded in approximately 2 years and never spent more than a couple months on reserve. They've never worked a holiday, a weekend, etc.

Meanwhile I'm a 6 year FO and still not able to hold an upgrade..... making $36.62 an hour, making less take home pay every year.

I get it, this industry is about luck. And I thank my stars I didn't get hired 6 months later, but the senior CAs get paid fairly, but only at the expense of the FOs.

Our competitive labor costs are attained by the subjugation of the FOs.

+1 I couldn't agree more

Y'all need to quit squatting when u pee. Don't like double occupancy? Call and say ur sleep is being prohibited due to opposite schedules with ur "bunk mate". Worked at old school CJC and don't even pretend like republic is worse than that.

CJC paid for cancelations, even before the union contract was voted in.
