To 787 pilots... Doesn't the normal seat adjustment switch override the on back of the seat?

 

According to the Boeing guidance it does but only for the duration of the opposite command.
There is a master power switch also.

Dumb events -

Former FO was an F-105 guy in Vietnam. Bachelor so he signed up for his second tour. One of the first guys to go straight from UPT > RTU > Vietnam. 1967(?). Ended up doing Iron Hand missions with the Wild Weasels. Second tour...he was pretty experienced as a wingman. As #4 he's dragging CBU around. Everyone else drops on the SAM (gun?) site and pulls off left. He decides to pull off right - "might have saved my life. AAA hit the belly instead of the top of the airplance." He knows it's bad and lights the burner, starts climbing and turning towards the beach. Guys tell him he's burning. "I was telling myself 'I'll ride this thing to hell before I bail out.'" Looks in his mirrors....big trail of smoke and flames to include part of the fuselage burning. 'Looked like a flying Roman candle." BIG overheat light on. F'...it...it's still 'turning and burning' so he's just living with it. Losing energy, slowing, and now descending. But something's changed...oh good news, the BIG overheat light is out. "That's a good sign. But something else had changed. What's different...I'm looking around....oh...this little 'fire' light is on. Big ass overheat light that we'd see at times, tiny 'fire' light. I look in the mirrors "oh, I must be in hell!" Flames are now right behind the cockpit. Time to eject. Pulls the ejection handles....nothing happens. "I'm thinking 'this is SO unfair!!'" Look down..."I had two cameras that I took pictures with. Normally on the glareshiled. When I was hit stuff what thrown all over the cockpit. A camera has jamming the ejection handle. So I move it and pull the handle again...NOTHING happnes. 'This is SOOOO unfair'!!!!! BAM...the seat fires! Temporal distortion. Brain was going so fast 0.1second felt like forever. Almost didn't make it because his camera had jammed the ejection seat handles.

6.5+ years aa a Hilton guest...before they give overnight awards. I said "you must have been one of the senior guys (longevity)?" "No. There was a bunch of guys there longer than I was." I think he thought he was about #119 on the longevity list.
