PSA Crash with Helicopter at DCA…

NTSB is holding 2 days of public hearings on this incident.
Today and tomorrow.
Watch if you'd like, draw your own conclusions.
(Some editorial comment/bias: The presented computer graphic recreation made me want to throw up. Haven't screamed like a crazy person at a computer generated graphic presentation this much since the 2009 Colgan Air crash that was 100% avoidable. Game of inches.)

100' is within tolerance for hand-flying, what's crazy is they allowed a corridor to be used that basically intersected (within 100') a 3 degree glide path to the runway while the runway was in use with aircraft on approach. That's the absolutely insane part. Given the tolerances of well...everything, how big tails are, how gear hangs down, this was a set-up from a long time for a mid-air collision. Humans aren't perfect and relying on visual separation here was just insane. I've "lost" visual many times for various reasons including never having gotten them in sight in the first place when the location on the box and instructions should have done it.

Also in the grand scheme of aviation, the PAT25 crew was VERY inexperienced. If you added their flight time together, it was barely enough to get a regional FO job.
Yes zero on PSA, they weren't told and had no reason to suspect they were playing frogger with tactical aircraft at the marker at a Bravo airport.

Start around minute 8 if you just want to see the graphics/overlay with the transmissions.
