Would he have flaps? (or she)

Kudos to the flight attendants for not opening the aft doors!!!!

Excellent job to all the crew, indeed. This is one for history for sure.
I would personally love to shake the hand of every member of that crew, what an amazing job under unimaginable stress.

Yea really.. But Wolf Blitzer did start getting it right on CNN - crediting the pilot and co-pilot. Then he went and gave credit to the 'crew and the flight attendants too'.. oh well.

Yes KUDOS to the Airbus, however the aircraft would have reverted to direct law with the RAT doploying (if my memory is correct, however I'm sure it would have downgraded out of normal law). So the flight control law protections would have been lost. KUDOS to the pilots, for doing some of that "PILOT ****"

Well done.

I feel bad for the crew knowing full well they'll be junior-manned tomorrow since they got most of the day off today. Obviously the Airbii wasn't made for duck hunting.

Glad everyone's ok.

I read that Airbus has a 'ditching' button.. Can someone elaborate on this?

It's the red button next to the green "Fly" button. There's only two buttons up there, so it's easy to find.

I was wondering that exact same thing watching the news.

Kudos to all the crew and those that helped out!

Yes it does. It will close all the external valves and such, in the case of a ditching. That being said, it is really only every used during de-icing. I guess we can confirm that it really does work at keeping the aircraft sealed.
