Default Brakes set Cleared 2 land (JetBlue NTSB)

NTSB: Parking brake error behind JetBlue tyre fire, evacuation

Perhaps if they were flying a transcon turn they would have not made this mistake?

I seem to remember Republic or Shuttle America doing this a few years ago in a 170 in IAH.

I'm surprised that the A-320 allows this to happen with all the fail-safes onboard.

An XJT ERJ-145 did it about 10 years ago in EWR, I think it blew all 4 tires and made a 180 or something. Not sure.

I've heard urban legends about md-80s landing with the autobrakes in the "takeoff" mode. That would be violent.

all Embraers I've flown have no protection for the parking brake. you can land with the toe brakes hammered down, and the wheels spin up first, but the parking brake has no system logic or controls to it. it does as you say, when you say it.

Actually, it's essentially the same as using "MAX" autobrakes. And yes, both are quite violent.

DC-3s have a placard that says not to set the parking brake in flight. I always assumed there was a story behind the placard.
