I hate to say it, but with Babbitt going away, I think our best proponent for the new Rest rules just left the building. The newly appointed Interim Administrator (or whatever he's called) I feel won't rock the boat by publishing them anytime soon. Also, ATA and their friends have a new ear to bend.

<sigh>

I have noticed that the trip pairings at my company have an increasing number of "less than 9hrs of rest" overnights. One would think they would start preparing for the day in which they could no longer do this. Instead they are going the other direction. It's as if they have complete confidence in all of the money they have been spending to see this rule change forgotten will be of good use.

I take this blatant disregard for public safety a complete insult. The money that I pay to my union for dues is partly used in scientific research that has defined the dangers of our current rest and duty rules. Yet the union just sits there. Guess that's where the buck stops.

Nothing like doing 10 hour block, 3 hour ETOPS with age 64.9ers with fantasy based 36 hour domicile reset times to increase safety.
