What the heck happened here?
Was there an airport he was trying to land at?
Did he have a mechanical issue?

The video almost makes it seem like this was intentional.

Yeah just read that myself.
They're all lucky to be alive after a hit like that.

I seriously wonder about the pilot. Recording those events? Think you would want to pay more attention on an emergency landing. He acts like it's no big deal. Wonder what the FAA will think about the use of the phone...

I'm thinking it was a passenger (johnathan) recording - not the pilot (Lynn).
A passenger on a small plane that crash landed in a Cache County field on Saturday afternoon captured the whole ordeal on his cell phone,
Jonathan and Kara Fielding are on a recreational flight for Kara's birthday. Seated beside his mother-in-law, Jonathan is holding their seven-month-old baby boy as their family friend and pilot Lynn Goodsell flies his single-engine Cessna 175.
The phone flies from Jonathan's hands but continues to record the crash

Wow - I saw a few roads early in the video...perhaps would have been a better call.

Very surprised to hear a baby crying in the background. Spooky.

Roads tend to have power lines running along side them which don't show up till it's too late.
