Default Oh, and just one more thing...

After some back and forth between the family and the flight crew, the family reportedly relented to the movie being shown and did their best to engage their children to keep them from watching the movie.

Which, given the lack of compassion and empathy from the flight crew (in spite of the support of the passengers surrounding the family), was the only thing the parents could do.

I've been surprised by some inflight movies while non-reving with my son. Ryan Gosling was pounding away on some girl on the overhead monitor and I just said they were playing and gave him the iPad, but when he gets older than 3 it might get tougher.

I read earlier today that after the movie wasn't stopped, they started trying to slam the monitor back up into the ceiling. The results of such actions are exactly as you'd expect.

.... and after destruction of the interior of the airplane, the diversion, questioning by authorities, and removal from the flight make a whole lot more sense.

I think I'll just stand with the movie director's letter. He pretty much nailed it.

That said, I saw one post which I wouldn't have any trouble betting $100 on...

The whole thing blew up when the FA mis-managed the situation and she wound up lying to the CA as to what was actually happening because the parents weren't following her orders to sit there and take it.

Why does the saying, "better to remain quiet and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt" come to mind????

Perhaps a rule change might be in order to give a Cpt. more leeway in situations like this by going back to the old system in order to get first hand knowledge as to what is actually going on.
