If all of this is true, then the crew (all involved) should be punished for extreme neglegence. Good thing no one was hurt.

Every time I hear of something like this, I think "how many times has this already been done, and we never heard about it??" Very few people report near-misses or "benign" tomfoolery that ended well in all fields.

The incident reminds me of that Aeroflot incident where the captain let some kids fly the plane and they also accidentally switched off the auto. IIRC that crashed and was pieced together from the data and voice recorder.

They were scheduled to join OneWorld (?) last year, and were rejected. I flew one leg on them, but won't do that again!
