And lost the prop on his Grumman Tiger - May 8th, 1999

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), an AOPA member and one of the most ardent general aviation supporters in Congress, lost the propeller off his Grumman Tiger May 8 and made a successful emergency landing at Claremore, Oklahoma. Inhofe was unhurt, but his landing on the airport grass sheared off the Tiger’s nosewheel assembly.

So I wonder what new rule will come out as a result of this? What's next after Pilot's Bill of Rights?

These things have a notoriously poor safety record, nearly a quarter of the fleet has crashed so far because of control problems when an engine fails.

Wikipedia

Concerns have been raised about safety; there have been 330 fatalities from MU-2 crashes. As of October 2005, the FAA began a safety evaluation of the aircraft and decided that the aircraft has met its certification requirements - it is safe when operated by properly trained pilots who operate properly maintained aircraft. The FAA is in the process of mandating [special] training specific to the MU-2 as it has in the past for other [problem] aircraft. When such mandated training was required outside of the U.S. the MU-2 accident record was vastly improved.
