Default GA Safety - Surprising Stats

After plogging through my logbook, I've flown 27 different tail #'s. 13 of them have been in an FAA reportable incident - that's 48%!

(6) Loss of directional control during landing (Training C152s and C172s)
(2) Power loss (water in fuel=gear up, other was cracked cylinder)
(1) Poor approach, botched go-around, "landed" on top of building
(1) Tow rope broke @ low altitude
(1) Night formation collision (fatal)
(1) Taxi into light pole
(1) Windshear during take off, off field landing flipped and totaled plane.

fortunately, I was not involved in any of these. Several of these planes are still flying.

Yikes! Luckily none of the planes I've flown so far have been involved in any accidents. I think many GA accidents come down to the PIC's decision making abilities, or lack thereof.
