Eh, the other bigs don't have this silly requirement. This will bring us in line with them. Like the type, it sets us up to pass on qualified, desirable candidates because they have only amassed 800 PIC hours. Certainly not a lot of hiring goes on below that threshold, but I have always thought it was pretty arbitrary. I have flown with guys that have 500 hours and are more competent than some of the 64 year old wonders that I fly with if I bid a weekday trip (grandpa has nodded off again, guess I'll fly and talk for a while).
I think in a few years, we are going to be hiring near ATP mins.
