Eh, the other bigs don't have this silly requirement. This will bring us in line with them. Like the type, it sets us up to pass on qualified, desirable candidates because they have only amassed 800 PIC hours. Certainly not a lot of hiring goes on below that threshold, but I have always thought it was pretty arbitrary. I have flown with guys that have 500 hours and are more competent than some of the 64 year old wonders that I fly with if I bid a weekday trip (grandpa has nodded off again, guess I'll fly and talk for a while).
I think in a few years, we are going to be hiring near ATP mins.

1600 TPIC and a 737 type and still no call. Guess it's time to change something....

If you are current, I doubt that will be the case for long. Keep plugging away.
Things like squadron NI, IP, and any other check marks help.
I highly suspect you will get an interview sooner than later. Keep checking your email (spam folder too). That's how the "call" comes.

Thanks e6b. I have all that stuff (NATOPS, IP, Safety... and a previous interview) but most of my flight time (except about the last 60+ hours) is stale and more than 10 years old. I sure hope you're right about the call coming soon. Might have to jump on the regional train for a while to jump start this old Chevy!

One of the things mentioned a lot for Mil guys was flying 2 of the last 5 years.
I don't think it's a bad idea for a stale mil guy to go to a regional for a few months-this does a few things (IMO): gives you another check in the block for your app for 121 experience, it shows a successful completion of a civilian training program, and it shows currency. I know of two guys who plugged away at the regionals for VERY brief periods of time (less than 3-6 months)...that was enough to get them hired.

As pride swallowing as it may be, I'd have to agree with those that suggest picking up a regional gig or maybe even a Part 135/91 flying job. I also know several former military people who were in a similar circumstance that weren't "hirable" at the majors due to currency and magically after a few months of flying for the regionals, the doors opened up.

I know it, and I've heard that from many people, time and again. I've got to figure out how to get the ex wife off my payroll first. That's the only thing stopping me at this point.

Definitely not pride holding me back, just the thought of living in the alley after having to pay the ex. I have a part time Part-91 job flying King Airs and I teach as a CFI. I am afraid that might not be enough however.

I have heard that the magic number for currency is 100 hours in the last 12 months. And I have seen a couple of interviews for friends coming within days of hitting that threshold.You said 60+, so keep plugging away to hit 100 in 12 before you shift over to RJ land...best of luck!!
