As much as people complain about the negotiations, this place is a cake walk compared to other airlines. Get the pay and retirement on par with the others and I'll be happy.

New hires leaving is a sign of the times. People will go to the first airline that calls and if that's not where they want to be they'll keep their apps open. It's not 2008 when only SWA was hiring. People are leaving UAL for DL, DL for SWA, etc. It's finally a buyers market and I'm glad. Means pay and benefits for pilots will be in high demand.
Who does 11 day trips? I came to SWA so I wouldn't have to fly international anymore, thats not working out very well. SWA makes it painful with no food and poor training. My regional made it easier.

Only if you and the majority vote yes to a TA that doesn't include those items...

Personally, I think this pilot group seems just determined enough to get it, but then again I'm a glass half full type.

Default Future bookings

I wonder if the company realizes how much future bookings would drop off if there was a strike vote taken to coincide with Thanksgiving or Christmas. The lost revenue alone should make them think twice about screwing us.
Fall is a lovely time of year to picket.

We are at the end of Gary's 30 days and the ball is in swa's court. I suspect that we will see an offer soon that is an increase over TA1 but nowhere close to the platform. I recently flew with an assistant chief who said they are being summoned to Dallas and that he believes that we will be lowballed once again. He said that the disconnect between those writing the checks and the pilots is huge and that they truly have no idea what they are up against in terms of unity.
Fortunately our union has come together and nearly everyone, even a lot of former Koolies, are on the same page.
It's a great place to work. I truly enjoy coming to work here. We need a contract, though, and I think a lot of pilots are tired of carrying the company's water during crises.
I'm calling BS on the info of people leaving. I hear a lot of this from people "who have heard" but don't get anything solid.

Sure there's a few here and there but we aren't seeing 25%. Get over yourself; or go elsewhere

Class of 09 December, 5 out of 22 have left. Class of 14 December, 5 out of 24 have already left. At least one has 2 weeks notice in and another has confirmed they are leaving. Care to dispute those numbers? Ok, maybe not exactly 25 percent, but darned close.
As I have said before, I love it here, I am not leaving (for now). Thanks for telling me how to live my life though.
But you are probably right, everything is awesome. Deck parties for all my friends!

Agree with this. Hear a lot of people talk about folks leaving, but I only know of two personally - only one of them from my class.

I'm not doubting people are leaving, but it's not at the rate that the forum warriors (here and the SWAPA forums) would have you believe.

Attrition affects all carriers. I know guys and gals who have left UAL and DAL as well. Everyone targets a job that best fits their life or what they want out of their career. I can't fault anyone for pursuing that. Good luck to them.

You should consult your SWAPA reps about the pilots going elsewhere. You and Angel have it wrong. Not that it really matters in any case.

The exodus has only just begun. We are a second tier carrier when it comes to hiring, completely due to having an inadequate contract and very little seniority movement.
Read some of the communication that is coming from OUR representatives in HQ. They should be in our corner and instead they are softening us into taking the 50.1 percent solution. Our own company has hired Randy Babbitt to negotiate against us and there is zero indication that we are anywhere close to closing a deal. Our CEO has awarded the shareholders with 5,700,000,000 dollars and has stalled our negotiations over 4 years. If I were a new hire, I would leave as well.
