Tenacvols,

I received the same email. I applied to the opening then sent a response to the People Department as instructed to let them know I applied. It's been crickets since.

Definitely frustrating since SWA is my top choice by far and a bunch of my squadron mates have received interview invites. Guess it's all about patience at this point.

[QUOTE=FLY6584;2154824]".... pay, upgrade, retirement, and job security will all be better at the Legacies due to the shear number of retirements that are GuARANTEED.

Not sure I buy that reasoning, or say these things are guaranteed until you have enough seniority to be furlough proof. Look at the debt load UAL and AA are carrying right now, it wouldn't take much of a economic down turn or a spike in oil prices to make their shiny new contracts untenable.

I would think AARP/ACLU wold be happy to take SWA/SWAPA to court on this issue.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. The only reason to come to Sohthwest over a Legacy is if they offer a base you want to live in that none of the Legacies have.
So what's stopping you? You haven't been here more than a year...

Yea...my availability date isn't until 1 Oct. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. I'm just trying to be patient.

While I agree that domicile preference plays into the overall decision matrix, IMHO, it would be a very short sighted to use that as the sole reason to choose a career destination.

Even if you live in one of our junior domiciles already, there is very little about a career at WN that is (or likely will be) better than the other majors for a new hire looking at a 25 to 30+ year career. We are, once again, far behind our peers at the other majors in just about every measurable area of comparison.

Same boat. I got the same sort of email from them doing OBAP last year and never heard anything from that one either. Yet I have a close friend who applied once and never updated his stuff in a year never did a job fair etc. He got the call and is currently online at SWA.

If hired by WN today how long could one expect to sit reserve at MDW, DEN, DAL or Hobby?

Thanks

Was non reving on WN today. 2 legs. First legs was stocked full but I got on the js. There was no room for bags so I gate checked mine with the intention of getting it at the gate when I got off as I had to catch another flight shortly.
Long story short my bag never made it back up to the gate, furthermore, it was lost somewhere between one plane and baggage claim. I was told they would bring it to my next flight. It never showed.
The captain held the flight as it was their terminating flight and there were no connections till they found my bag. He was very active in finding my bag.
Without him doing that I would not have been able to go to work the next day.
Examples like this is why I chose to work at WN.

Yikes. I generally bring it up front with me and just ask if they mind if I stick it under the jumpseat. Haven't had anyone say no yet.
On a serious note, good on that captain for taking care of you. It's a crying shame that we are butting heads with ground ops over things like taking care of each other.
