The Round 2 awards for CLT FOs does show someone with seniority # 1232 getting awarded a SCR line. Obviously he won't fly it if he's not qualified, but somehow he was awarded it.

If I exclude him (which is probably the more accurate thing to do) the Jr Award is a 11/21/16 hire. That's posted below, and another quick change I needed to make. I'm going to delete the old one.

If you already had a signed CJO from another regional, would you back out and come to PSA if it meant you could drive to work instead of commuting and would have a seniority number 6 months sooner? Asking for a friend...

Not commuting is a big plus. Depending on who the other outfit is, your age, experience and your long term plans, I would take PSA.

I would not withdraw the other CJO until you are on line with PSA and are happy there. You don't want to risk saying no to them too early.

You can send them a TBNT letter once you are settled and sure since you state your "friend" won't start for another 6 months.

Quote: Hey everyone in the new thread! I'm currently in systems training and got the email about the potential FO awards for the class before me and my class. I know based off the chart that TF provided, CLT has a pretty long reserve time to hold a round 1 line, at least relative to DAY, DCA, and CVG. I will be commuting out of VPS. Originally, my idea was to 2 leg commute to one of those bases and then a round 1 line until I can hold round 1 in CLT for the one leg commute. So my question is this: With CLT having the most amount of spaces available for FOs by a decent margin, would it be better to shoot for CLT out of the gate for the one leg commute with the assumption that the time to get round 1 will be much shorter ooooorrrrr should I continue with my original plan?

Drive to PNS and take the direct flight to DCA that starts fairly soon. You can hold a round one quicker and one leg it.

Definitely. Its a completely different job when you live in base. This is why I advice people to not commit to a regional too early into their training. The industry is moving to fast and new opportunities come along all the time, committing to one early on makes no sense.

It used to be that if you got a CJO you were happy you got a job. Now folks are interviewing at multiple airlines and receiving CJOs from most of them before picking which airline they want to go with. It is a different environment right now.

I would advise your friend to interview with PSA and if he receives a CJO to pick the airline that meets what is most important to him (living in base, other QOL, upgrade time.....). Once he has selected an airline, then I personally would let the other airline know that he has decided to go a different direction.

Living in base is a huge QOL enhancer, but there are many other things that might be more important to someone that would drive them to commute rather than live in base.

Did you bid ?

Rule number one, don't let scheduling make your schedule.

With the new base opening and new lines being added its most likely going to change wildly every month. Everyone is looking at the same information - i.e. 'hmmm, why am I sitting reserve when I can one leg it to R1?' well, the problem is you don't know how many people all changed their base bids until AFTER the bid comes out.

So if you look and see CVG is .2 yrs and you change your bid and so does everyone else now it goes to .5 yrs. Now you can't rebid for a month and it may take a month minimum or more before a spot opens and you can move to a different base. Even though you can change base every month, there has to be an open spot for you to move to.

Commuting sucks, two leg commuting sucks even worse. Reserve sucks. As we said in the military - embrace the suck.

With as topsy turvy as everything is it might be better at this point to pick the best commute and wait a few months to see how everything shakes out. After it settles down again it might be easier to predict what base is what.

Two cents.

PS - also don't forget that the date on the chart is the LAST person in line to hold line 1. You will have access to SAP but you are still lowest on the totem pole. So to add to the "sucks" - commuting to a ****ty line sucks.
