So, I bid for April, but my IOE didn't officially finish until the bid period ended, like, by hours. Scheduling will make my schedule for April.
<embracing the suck>
Still not senior enough to hold anything but SCR, but I'm wondering... I see whole trips in the open time pot. Of course, I can't pick anything up because it conflicts with my SCR. Can somebody explain the open time pot to me? As in, I would rather volunteer for a trip, be it 1, 2, or 4 days, than stand by waiting to be called (or not.) How do people pick up the open time? Any other FLICA tips would be appreciated, too, since it's not exactly intuitive, nor have good help/tutorials.

According to my IOE Cap'n, if you bid it you should get it, even if not done with IOE ? He said it was in the contract.

Sorry, should have said what I said was second hand information. My IOE Capn had me submit a bid the other day and like I said he said "when you finish IOE they will give you the rest of the month as you had bid it" and he also said that the contract says so. I hadn't had time to verify any of that so take it for what its worth. I would like to know either way.

You can ask scheduling for trips in open time that correspond with your scr days. Those trips typically get assigned to LCR guys but if you're lucky they might assign it to you.

Yeah, they'll build a schedule, and even if the bid had gone through (final award I'm listed as "not qual") I would only have reserve. Mostly curious about the open time thing. Some are listed under "first come first served." I thought, "hey, four day of flying vs. four on reserve!" But no. Denied because it conflicts with my schedule. Can Open Time only be picked up on scheduled days off? Is it a seniority thing (even though there a 1st come 1st served category?)

You cannot pick up trips in open time to replace SCR days. You are on short call to answer to the demands of Crew Scheduling. You may ask for a trip that you see but know fully well you may not get it.

While on reserve you are a spare tire. Some get rotated in. Some just sit there in the trunk. I think everyone should do at least one month of reserve. It builds, uhm, "character."

Flica lists me as not qualified as I'm waiting for my IOE to start. I talked to scheduling about it and they said they might TDY me to a base of their choosing depending on when I get done, AKA DCA. Since I haven't been released from training. I don't care as you get PS and hotels till your relocation days.

I think I already ****ed them off when they screwed up my oral schedule. They got an ass chewing by training.

I've had enough "character" building at my last regional. I got to play hide and seek with the runners on day 4.

I don't think that scheduling department has anything to do with scheduling for training events and deadheads
