Who do you like?

Quote: Pilot did the right thing.

You have an obligation to protect passengers.

Devils advocate: imagine the video shows the alteration, but the pilot glibly passing by then the brawling women fall on and injure an innocent toddler standing in the jetway.

Or the video shows the pilot looking on while one of the brawlers is choked to death.

I'm proud this guy works for Delta. These are confusing times.

What we do need going forward is a plan to deal with the combination of entitled, billegerent passengers and ubiquitous video without context.

Might be time to leave full airplanes at the gate with the explanation that tying the hands of airline employees to govern the situation makes it impossible for us to operate with even one uncooperative passenger.
Obviously you wouldn't stand there and laugh at them. Go to the gate agent and have them call APD. I've worked in customer service all my life from airlines, to telecoms, to to retail (even in management) and the LAST thing you as an employee want to do is physically involve yourself in this situation.

If these 2 idiots get someone else hurt then it's on them. If you get involved and get hurt it's on you, if you get someone else hurt it's on you, and if either of these 2 would say that you hurt them...that's on you as well.

Look, it's clear we don't live in a common sense society. People get dumber and dumber by the day and everyone is sue happy.

If you want to get involved because you're trying to do the right thing you'll end up on the short end of the stick 9 times out of 10.

Help get the other passengers out of the way, contact APD or whoever it is but DO NOT get involved physically with these people.

That's fair. You're right.

Last year a pilot could tackle a guy on his airplane and he's a hero. Now we're worried about a pilot trying to break up an altercation between two unruly pax where he barely uses force. Talk about a stupid world we live in. Common sense taking a backseat to fear of litigation

What he should have done is whip out the cell phone and started recording....

Or maybe employed the R. Kelly method for subduing problem females? Well....maybe not.

seriously...don't ever try to physically get between two morons.

Growing up this kinda stuff was business as usual in my neighborhood. Arrived at the local market parking lot with two of my siblings....in the middle of a traffic lane is a grown man beating the dog crap out of a woman. Her clothes were ripped off, and there are the two of them rolling around on the pavement.

Three of us being kids....we pulled the guy off the woman, she gets up and immediately jumps on my brothers back and starts swinging. Screaming about protecting her 'man'...you know, the guy of late who was beating the crap out of her.

With only the two of us on him...the guy gets loose. Jumps in his car, and proceeds to try and run us down. All of us.....including his near naked and beaten female defender.

We jump out of the way....finally realizing this wasn't a situation of assault, but instead was some form of demented foreplay.

We left them there in the traffic lane. Him in the car revving the engine and jacking the brakes....and her standing in front of the car, near naked...screaming "GO AHEAD....RUN ME DOWN!"

Aint love grand?

Thank God. Can you imagine flying with a guy like that (and trying not to be "self-aggrandizing.")

Honestly I think it's the herd mentality that the media controls. If the story read "Hero Delta pilot breaks up right before his flight" the rest of the nation wouldny care. But because of the way its titled everyone thinks worst case.
