Obviously the pay rate isn’t as good, but it appears there are lots of new hires who are seeking east coast bases and PHL is appealing to them...
Lots of Piedmont guys want the 190 to stay in Philly. If you’ve got Piedmont flows in class it might go more senior, depending on their age.

You would surprised the amount of people bidding west coast equip and commuting from east coast cities.. why? I think it’s a bit of an ego thing. ‘That big RJ 190, I’m mainline now, I have to fly big plane, make me feel good.’

I know some dudes who gave themselves 2 leg transcon commutes when they had direct flights to PHL.

Well things have changed quite a bit in the last 6 months. Before, new hires local to PHL wanting PHL basing only had one choice of aircraft to get there; the E190. However, we have been dropping lots of 320's to PHL since January. The movement on the 320 at PHL for an FO looks better than the 190. It'd obviously behoove any new hire wanting PHL to grab a 320 if they can get it during INDOC. The 190 went pretty senior in my class, but again, they were not dropping 320's to Philly at that point in time. Every senior dude in the class that chose the 190 would have chosen a 320 in Philly if it were on the list, most likely driving the 190 to go very junior.

Lot's of guard/reserve military presence in the PHL area due to McGuire, ACY and Dover.

The lower group 1 pay rate is a moot point since everyone starts at the same rate regardless of aircraft and anyone on the 190 for more than their first year is withheld and getting group 2 or better pay anyway. We have guys that have been on the 190 for over 4 years. Not a dime of lost money. Rapid movement, decent schedules, no red-eyes, lots of commutable trips, etc. I’ve been on it for 1.5 years and am trying to stay on it till it goes away. All while making group 2 pay.

320, 737, and a few 190 sprinkled in. For bases LAX, NYC, MIA, PHL, and maybe a few DCA and or BOS.

If you want a more detailed breakdown, I believe it comes out on Wednesdays.
