Quote: In no way related to this specific discussion....but since we’re talking about ACMI 777s. I heard that the new -300 “BCF” has the clearance to work for military charters. No nose loads....but there’s some opportunity there. Probably why Connie jumped at them so quick. I realize it’s not what WG has coming....so I’ll shut up and go away now....
How is the tube on a 777-300ER different from a 777F besides being longer?

Dunno. Heard it was a clearance issue with the wing or something along those lines. Third hand info.

I'm told the flooring substructure is somehow different between pax and F versions. Not sure if it's true or not.
Heck, can't even remember where I heard it.
Never mind (unless it's true, in that case, full credit for pack ratting tidbits of useless info)

The 777F (factory freighter) is spec’d to be “partially CRAF capable”. The structure under the floor is capable of withstanding the slightly different load limits when using US military pallets. However, the issue early on was the floor system made by BF Goodrich was not engineered for the different size US military pallets. Supposedly there is a modification available for that now. Southern has not flown any US military charters in the 777F. I’m not sure about FDX. I assume K4 has not.

I have no idea how the -300 converted freighter will be engineered.

The flooring structure is beefer on the 777F vs the pax birds. That is one of the things that will be addressed with the 773 conversions I am sure.
