Quote: Do you happen to know what kind of hours guys need to be competitive at Seaplanes or any other Juneau operators in a 208 on wheels?
You'll need Part 135 IFR mins. The more IMC time in your logbook, the better. Single pilot Part 135 IFR time is better still. Seaplanes is the only wheel operator in Juneau.

So they don’t do 135 VFR air taxi anymore? I’m trying to get a low-time buddy up there to “make him” as a pilot.

They still have 2 207s and both are VFR only as are the floatplanes. But to get a good look for the wheel side, they want IFR mins so they can put you in a 208 on weather days.

I'm interested in how this all turned out too. I was up there on a Disney Cruise w the family and flew in a Beaver to King Crab lunch/dinner. Thought it'd be a fun gig to fly every summer once my son went to college. I'm a commercial/ instrument ASEL/ ASES w ground and instrument instructor. Was working on CFI, even finished lesson plan but hem hawed around on check ride. TT ~1200. Also have A&P. How much float time do you need?
I'm going to finally do MSEL this spring/summer while CV has every thing down.

Anyone have any info? Just submitted my application, and want to know if I'm being delusional or not. Thanks!

They fly mostly wheels, yes some floats but hiring for Caravan, 207 and PC12 on wheels. Need to relocate to Juneau.

Yes, I've worked there several summers. Good place. Can be very challenging flying. Was set to go last summer until Covid shut down the tourist industry there. You'll work hard and fly in lots of wet weather. Bring a raincoat.

None unfortunately. I've got over 500 hours tailwheel and an ATP, but the ATP is pretty wet and I only got a few hours of turbine before getting furloughed. I've always wanted to do some Alaska flying though, so I'm hoping for the best. Thanks for the info
