Got a job offer yesterday guys!!!! Star Marianas Air emailed me and offered me a position to operate Cessna and PA-28-181's and do discovery flights! I could not be more stoked!!

There are also some other lower hour operators. I occasionally hear of someone getting picked up by Mokulele, Southern Airways Express, Air Choice One, and a couple at Air Cargo Carriers. All but the last one fly Caravans.

Not always. My friend that got hired on had a fresh part 141 commercial, so between flight school and a little flying on the side, he didn't have more than 250 hours. It's not advertised, and probably not the norm, but it's also not unheard of.

Your best bet for building flight time is with Hageland in Alaska. They will take you with 250 hours and you’ll build close to 800 hours your first year and make good money. You need a referral though without that you don’t have a chance. If your interested send me a message.

Is it viewed negatively to clock up a bunch of hours in your own aircraft to get to 500? I have a Rans S-14 that I have been using to build hours cheaply but I had not planned on going all the way to 500.

I can ask and find out, but there are plenty of operators that never advertise job openings that would hire someone with less than 500 hours. You either need to know someone or do a lot of research.

I have used two successful methods of finding companies that hire but dont advertise.

1) Download the Part 135 list of Operators off Google. It has all of the part 135 operators. I then google the name of the company I find in the area I want to live to see if they have a website and then find an email address to contact and go from there.

2) Target a specific area or airport you want to live/fly out of and look at the arrivals and departures on flightaware. Eventually you will notice the same tail numbers flying in and you can find out who owns the airplane or which company it is registered to. Then just follow the last sentence of method 1.

Some people might think it is "stalkerish" but I can personally say that I received a job offer recently due to this tactic and impressed the interviewer with my persistence.

The jobs you see advertised on APC are great, but they are just the very tip of the iceberg.

Thats what I was worried about, dont want to make anyone suspicious about flying 10hrs every single weekend for example. Its got to the point where I make sure I change up the pen I use frequently so it doesnt look pencil whipped
