Quote: At Omni going to and from your gateway is on your work days and it is not taxed. Travel has improved significantly with the new CBA and there is ample opportunity to make extra money by waiving business class if you can stand it. Guys are consistently working 16 days under the new contract. Can go up to 22 in a worst case (lightning struck you twice) scenario but that includes all your traveling.

I'm a lifer at Omni. But if you only plan on being at an ACMI until a major calls then come to Omni or Kalitta. Atlas may get a much better contract down the road but who knows when.

If this is the lifestyle you want then look at the bases, benefits, etc. Omni may not be the best but you'll still be better off than 95% of the country.
Good info ... thanks.

Omni. Anything but Atlas.

For lets say a 16 day on rotation, is that followed by 14 hard days off? Then travel out, work, and travel back inside the 16 days?

Are there times where you make it home within the 16 day rotation? Reserve scenarios for instance?

Do you travel with a reserve crew?
Most of the flying for a junior guy will be X amount of days working at the beginning of the month. Followed by 12 off and two "override" days at home (long call reserve) and Y amount of days off. More senior lines have that basic pattern reversed with the days off in the middle.

Known flying comes in both varieties and goes senior or junior depending on how good the destinations are. I've never lost known flying from my schedule.

You travel on your own (company plans and pays it obviously, just you can plan on being solo, especially for gateway travel); if it coincides with other crewmembers it's either due to you being on the same trip or a strange alignment of the planets.

That's on the 76, right?

It must be Omni, which should answer the OP’s question quite easily. Atlas is 180 degrees opposite of everything listed above. The answer is go to Omni.

The 76 at Omni. The 77 is very similar just more deadheading between trips to meet the airplane.

Atlas is not all doom and gloom. PM for details. My QOL got better than the regionals.

Qol would be better served at Omni or K4

Agreed that it isn't all doom and gloom, but from what I've heard Omni still wins. To each their own.

I know guys that are happy and unhappy at Atlas. I know guys that are happy and unhappy at Omni. I know guys that are happy and unhappy at Kalitta.

All that being said if someone is looking to do this job until a Major calls they should simply "chase the money". Getting money now is better than getting money eventually when you plan to move on anyway (ask JG Wentworth). For guys making this ACMI "thing" a career they should find one that works for them and stick to it. Not only is this a time of unprecedented income potential for ACMI pilots but it is also a time of unprecedented stability in this sector of the industry.
