Hello, I am a brand new first officer working for a regional. 1000 hours total time currently. I have worked for Fedex express for 3.5 years in the past as a delivery driver, so I have an employee number and all that. I know I can’t apply till after I have 1000 pic, but are there any other things I can do to better my odds at landing a job with you guys? I didn’t have the best grades through college (2.7 gpa). I am currently at one of the flow airlines for american, but I think I’d enjoy flying for Fedex more than American. And I don’t want to wait 8 years to flow.... Basically I’m trying to find out what kinds of things the hiring guys/girls like to see on a resume in order to land a job at FDX. I am sure previously working there is a good thing, but what else can I do to help better my odds? Thank you in advance for any insight and advice.

Get into the LEFT SEAT of any JET aircraft AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Check airman time will definitely help.

I would look at getting into the Purple Runway Program with a FedEx Feeder (Empire or MAC).

Not if he is already at a regional.

Stay put, get the left seat 1000 PIC turbine requirement done.

Become a check airman.

I'm in same exact position....worked for FedEx Express for 10 years, have a college degree, and offers from 2 regionals now. Currently flying night cargo. It's either I head to Republic for quality of life and better pay....or Piedmont for faster upgrade time but crappy QOL. I also have a family. Hope all the best for you!

Does the Purple Runway Program require an aviation degree? From reading the requirements I can’t tell if it’s any degree or an AABI accrediated aviation program.

Don't go to Piedmont it takes 10mo just to get through training. My friend was hired in January and still hasn't even gotten to IOE

Most of the RJ guys in my New Hire class had some form of Check Airman on their resume. It'll take you a few years to upgrade and by the time you have 1000 PIC it would improve your chances to go get a Boeing type at an ACMI carrier, BUT I wouldn't take that gamble of giving up a guaranteed job at American. Even if it's 8 years until you flow it may take 4 just to upgrade and hit 1000 PIC... Maybe more.
