Quote: I bet a 2014 DOH holds Capt on the next bid next month.
I’d bet a 14 hire will hold capt on the December bid

Does UPS allow Beards, for at least guys with medical skin conditions? I have a short 3/8 inch, well groomed beard. I am currently in the military and have had it for the last 10 years, since I was diagnosed. I know there was a study done in Canada that busted the myth of not being able to obtain a proper seal on aviation O2 masks. I get fitted every other year for masks in the military, both positive pressure and Chemical / Biological. Its one of those 15 minute seal tests, where you have to read out of a book while moving your head in multiple uncomfortable positions. The machine says I get a good seal every time.

I know other countries airlines allow beards, and I know Hawaiian allows them, but was unsure about UPS, or any others.

Any info would be appreciated (except your personal opinion on why you don't like beards)

Turboprops respected by UPS?
For the current UPS pilots on the forum...

I’m considering going into the Wheels Up program with Gama Aviation, flying the King Air 350. A buddy of mine in the regionals told me that major airlines wouldn’t respect turboprop experience nearly as much as 121 jet time.

So, a few years down the road, if I were to have 2500 hours total airplane time with 1500 PIC in the King Air, would UPS consider me for an FO position? Is large jet time with a 121 carrier absolutely crucial to getting hired? Thanks for all helpful replies.

UPS does hire a few turboprop guys. Not many (mil excluded).

2500 isn’t even close to competitive to get looked at unless your airplane type starts with a F.

Civilian newhires seem to fall within the window of 7,000-10,000+ hours with a couple thousand hours of jet PIC time. There’s always a mix of backgrounds in each class- regionals, ACMI (Atlas, Kalitta, etc), military and some corporate/135 types as well. One thing that generally stands out is that most guys have jet PIC time. Some military guys have turboprop time in big planes, C-130 and P-3, but generally have a lot of time in something bigger than a King Air.

Another thing that will help you stand out is becoming a check airman, Chief Pilot/DO, company sim instructor, etc. shows UPS you have the extra initiative.

Good luck!
