Ok, Point being is all the great stuff that the Southwest guys tout as a reason to go there are now in effect at other airlines.

It’s a great airline, it’s a great place to work, but there’s nothing Southwest has that the other airlines don’t.

We can drop down to zero as long as we have proper coverage. As always, some fleets are better than others. If lost the ability to do this, I'd likely change planes since I'm too junior to get the trips I want during PBS line construction.

So yes, all the legacies and Southwest can drop down to zero.
They can also all trade, drop, and give away.
The next comparable airline, with their new contract, is Spirit. Don’t know if they can drop to zero.

They don’t all have the same vacation options.

Yup that’s the one thing I mentioned in a previous post, but I don’t think that is enough to sway me if I’m looking at career expectations and choosing between AA and SWA right now, in 2019.
Profit sharing? Ok you have a lot now but what happens in a downcycle? You can’t rely on it-
SWA has never furloughed-sort of.
even in a downcycle there are so many retirements ahead at AA that someone hired today will most likely not see furlough-sure they might get displaced to a lower seat/plane resulting in less money, but the same thing essentially happened to SWA in ‘08(SWAPA working out a deal for less hours to avoid furloughs)

No airline is furlough proof, but someone hired today at AA will have an amazing career...someone hired tomorrow? that could be another story

If it’s 2008? Going to SWA. 2014+ going elsewhere...until about 2023.

Profit sharing has been paid at SWA since the late 70's.

No pilot has ever been furloughed....no sort of about it.

I'd go where you can drive to work. I wouldn't commute halfway across the country for a WB gig....or commute in general. But to each his own.

In 2008 furlough notices went out. SWAPA accepted to what essentially amounted to a pay reduction to keep pilots on property.
The company tried to furlough, what’s to say you’d have the same outcome in the future.

And I didn’t say profit-sharing would go away, I said it won’t be as much.

And Delta never furloughed...until they did

Alaska can only drop to other pilots below the monthly minimum. At this point I’m not sure where we stand in the comparisons. Scheduling wise it’s probably between Frontier and Allegiant.

I'll let the allegiant pilots speak for themselves but from what I hear from people there, they get great schedules. At the very least, not even comparable to the dreck we have at Alaska.
