Quote: So, if 20% are corporate and 135, then where do the other 80% come from? My guess is military and 121, not sure there are a lot of other options.

In my class we had two corporate, but one had previous 121 pic experience.

Correct. The way I read the post I was responding too was that there were very few if any 135 guys. I was just pointing out they’re actually represented at a much higher level (closer to 20%).

No worries, just caught me at a particularly sarcastic moment. Happy trails 😉

Quote: It always seems to get 777-heavy at the end of the CY. Training letter complete, backfill heavy into the crew-hungry 777. I’d believe this.
Which begs the question, does anything force the company to have a bid for FOs? In other words, they train new hires into all FO seats, and they only need to fill the holes when bids are released with CA seats and FOs upgrade to CA creating space for more new hires.

I see your point there...we’d like some more frequent system bids to negate that effect. I’ve only been around for a few years, so this is the only version I’ve known.

System bid establishes the minimum desired staffing level.
Say 777 FO is at 500.
Following a system bid, 460 FedEx pilots have opted for 777 FO. Company can hire 40 people to fill the remaining slots.

If 500 FedEx pilots bid it, then No new hires to the 777

Are you telling me that the system bid earlier this year did not fill up every 777 seat?

That is correct. 777 right seat did not fill up on 15-01, 16-01, 18-01, or 19-01. New hires have gone to the 777 on each of these bids.
