Hey guys, anyone have insight as to what the real TPIC and TT numbers Brown is looking for for the invite? Have a former mil flyer interested and trying to get some info besides what the generic FO job posting had mentioned. (When I was hired a few years ago, I had 3600TT with 2000 TPIC and I was on the lower end.)

There is obviously more to it than just hours.... In my class last year I was at the bottom 1/3 in terms of hours (4500+ from a 20 year military career). There were a few with less hours than me, but the majority of my class was of people with far greater hours than I had (some with 10K+). So I wouldn't put too much stock in having a ton of hours... like I said, they are looking at more than that. Just my $0.02.

3500-5000 is typical for military.
8000-10000+ w/2000+TPIC is typical ball park civilian.

Hey guys, I’ve enjoyed reading the threads and curiosity has gotten the better of me so I have to ask:

I’m a Navy F-18 guy looking at my options in the next year or two and UPS certainly seems like a dream job for me as I’m a Louisville area native and I kind of like the idea of cargo flying. I’m anticipating having roughly 2000TT at the time I’d apply - 1500 TPIC hours (about 1250 or so in the Hornet a lot of those hours coming in the Asia/Pacific AOR, the rest from T-45/T-6) and an additional 500 in various light pistons.

So the question is, how competitive would this make me? I read so many posts of guys fortunate to have at least 3x my flight hours and it leaves me feeling like I’d have little to no shot.

I realize there is probably no definitive answer, but I appreciate any insight anyone would like to give.

Apply and see what happens. In the meantime, volunteer with the United Way and keep flying to build time. Can you find a USNR unit? If not AF Herk units are hiring and will help you build time while working towards retirement. If you don't care about that go fly for the regionals. Don't wait on a single airline, apply to all of the big 5, 6 or 7 and hopefully you'll be able to choose. Good luck.

It has happened before with those numbers. I recommend hitting a job fair and visiting with UPS HR.

Try some have 5 to 7 times....

It does not matter,,,you are military and part of one of the two clubs that get hired or at least an interview no matter what your experience level is or your safety record.

Would argue experience level matters. Not aware of safety record issues getting hired that was tagged to the individual. Who knows.
If not current flying military, rare to get a call. If current, then often it leans toward folks on terminal leave or just retired. Some younger military do get hired, they are current military flyers and have other elements UPS desires. Recall when UPS bragged how many new hires had graduate degrees a few years ago? UPS for a time preferred graduate level degree applicants so military had a complimentary element most didn't possess. They had a masters Nowadays, not heavily weighted. UPS hires folks who were regional with min TPIC who went to Atlas FO for a year then called and hired UPS.
Fact is, UPS HR is a pure enigma. Data points are all afield. No logic. My guess is UPS HR have exactly what they want. All should apply if interested. UPS HR lottery factor alone suggests may as well apply.
Good luck to all.
