Quote: Towing a sign and stalling for fun is not stupid. It is a non event. You generally tow close to stall speed anyways and should be very comfortable there. As if a stall in a cub wasn't benign enough all you have to do is get a big old banner tied to the back to make it even less exciting.

HA! Thank god for this fellow... I was getting tired of being PussMothDriver on retardedairlinepilots.com. Now I can be "me" again! "SUPERCubdriver" even, maybe...

Quote: Since you guys are all pros when it comes to crop dusting, I am out of this debate. Obviously I have nothing to add that is credible. Seems to me that if the job paid $175,000 a year than more people would be doing it. Every ag pilot I ever met wasn't making near that amount so you must be special.

I was talking about pilots not operators.

As for you guys towing signs that want to go out there and stall the airplane for fun at 500ft off the beach good luck (no big deal). PM me your name and I'll call Jimmy Butler for you and see what he thinks.

You want to be professional than act like it.
I am getting into crop dusting, and have done my research. I have talked to quite a few pilots.

The lowest one I talked to had been working 2 years. He made $50K/year. The highest one had been doing it for 15 years. He was making $125k/year. Mind you, this is in deep south TX where the average income is $24K/year . . .. where I do just fine making $2000 a month. Down here that is damn good money. Starting is about $100 a field. No need to travel either, because with the weather, something is always in season.

If you want to be a professional, then spell like a professional.

I'm sorry. I couldn't resist! I just find it ironic that these "if you want to be a professional" dudes can't use the English language properly.

Back to the thread, sorry to have hijacked it:

How does one go about getting in to the Agriculture Pilot business?

Big difference between $125,000 and $175,000

Yeah it is kind of ironic isn't it?

I was so hoping you were going to try to flame me. "Dudes" is the plural form of "dude" which, according to my dictionary means "the young male partner of an older homosexual". However "dude", according to the American Heritage Dictionary, which is the interpretation I wanted to express in my recent use of the word, is derogatory slang for "man" or "persons of either sex"; and therefore "dudes" is the proper use of an English word purposed to summarize "those professionals who can't use their native language properly". Nice try ace!

All in good fun, no hard feelings.

Each to their own I guess....

LOL!!! Nice! I didn't see that one coming; although, it's a good thing that that interpretation is not the one I applied in use towards you; as I would not want to be presumptuous. Better to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that the picture labeled "learav8er" next to "dude..homosexual etc...", in the Oxford English Dictionary - which is the one I own - is not you. An interesting coincidance though, that the President of the Pen One Five (spelled out for censorship) Club has the same picture...

All in good fun.

Big difference in the cost of living and annual earned income between where I live, and the rest of the country. The Rio Grande Valley is listed as one of the poorest areas of the country.

So to put it into perspective, if my area wanted to be on average with everyone else, they would have to add $30-$50K to the yearly income.
$125K here = $155-$175K in other areas of the country.
