True, but I think it would be prudent to carry at lease one full day of rations, maybe two. Canned tuna, candy bars, granola bars. Things that you are allowed to take in and out of country.

The original post was talking about Los Angeles. I understand that there are problems that vary all over the system. Maybe station managers should be ensuring food access for crews since the rules vary from place to place.

My suggestion is that we order catering which can be available to us at the hotel upon check in. I’m a few days into my trip and these granola/protein bars and oatmeal pack go fast when seating in a room for couple days at a time.

In the cities where we have multiple hotels (Los Angeles) we need to consolidate hotels, thereby one hotel has more people staying in it and less likely to close. They would be able to keep a kitchen open for room services

The smartest move would be for UPS and FedEx to consolidate to the same hotels everywhere. It would make those hotels more viable from a business sense and make it easier for them to afford to provide the services we need as pilots, like food.

I cannot believe some of the whining around here as we watch every pax pilot in the world get their a$$e$ handed to them. Figure it out, make it work, and count your blessings. Or put your schedule in open time - plenty of folks would be fine with that as well.
O Please, I am thankful or our situation vrs the pass carriers but that does not really have anything to do with the company's responsibility to us while we continue to work in increasing challenging situations. The company has a responsibility to ensure crews who are on the road have safe, clean cockpits, hotels and transportation and access to food on layovers. Yes carrying a few items is warranted and I do but a 48hr layover possibly without access to food is unacceptable. Thankfully there are still allowing you get out and about in LAX but that could change.

Made multiple phone calls today to Westdrift hotel, crew scheduling and flight services. There is no food near the Westdrift open. They will not give access to a microwave. Only option for now is Uber Eats.

Also called the Hyatt House Indy. Food options a plenty there!!

i was just recently in a hotel that has about 300 rooms. the desk receptionist said 48 rooms were occupied, of which more than half were aircrew. I know AA was staying there. The hotel restaurant was shut down.
