Quote: Are pilots getting terminated way easier nowadays because of the obvious over-staffing? Would someone with 3 SAD in 2 years, 4 occurrences (3 emer + sad) in the last year and 0 warnings nor past disciplinary actions ne at serious risk of getting fired?
Not without warning, but you might get a rep that would stop you - or at least severely slow you down - from getting a job with your NEXT employer.

Quote: I do think we've had 2-4 fired over the past several months. Not two per day. If you give it some thought you might even be able to figure it out.

The only other thing I can think of is trying to sit reserve while well over two hours away from your domicile. Then getting a call out and not making it in.

SkyWest use to have a reputation for firing more than all other airlines combined 10-15 years or so ago. A lot has changed since then, and that hasn't been the case recently.
Yep come to think of it, as you mention, if you think about it you’ll work out how many have been let go recently and why...nothing SAD related as far as I can tell.

I heard anyone not taking VTO or CPTO gets put on a list and if you mess up just a little, you’re fired.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Haha funny thing is, I bet within a week someone is spreading this as fact.

I was given VTO, they sent me an email this morning saying I just needed to hit submit. Until September 30th in my case.
I just love the fact that they call it VOLUNTARY.

Take the Atlas job.

Still can’t believe how hard they’re hiring. That 747 job looks sweet until you get tired of being gone 16 days a month in a row.

When you’re on the street with a family depending on you, that 16 day stretch looks really sweet. I wouldn’t trade a legacy job for life at Atlas, but I’d take life at Atlas over any regional. That’s just me though. I really like long haul, and really hate up and down several times a day followed by short layovers in airport hotels. Flying for Atlas isn’t what flying for UPS is, but is not a bad life.

What's Atlas pay again? $38K 1st year FO? $1600/mo for first 5 months on training pay? I mean that's less than a Walmart cashier...

Then by all means, go be a Walmart and max out your pay first year. First year Atlas sucks, but after that, it isn’t a bad gig. You will take home more than at a regional, one commute a month (usually positive space to where ever the plane is), And heavy time looks good when applying for better paying jobs. UPS and FedEx really like heavy freight pilots since they already understand what flying freight is like, and they already have tons of international experience.
