Then by all means, go be a Walmart and max out your pay first year. First year Atlas sucks, but after that, it isn’t a bad gig. You will take home more than at a regional, one commute a month (usually positive space to where ever the plane is), And heavy time looks good when applying for better paying jobs. UPS and FedEx really like heavy freight pilots since they already understand what flying freight is like, and they already have tons of international experience.

In my case it's a 'blessing', and I'm not even going to fly a WB, but a job is a job. My first and only year at skywest comes to less than that probably lol, but Sedgwick paid 6 months so..
Paying bills is all it matters.

I made 78k my first year, 1 OT trip, home a ton living in a base. That’s more than I ever made at my previous regional. YMMV, but I’ll give you a hint, a lot of the Union boys on here aren’t telling the whole truth.

To each their own, but I’m with Turbosina on this one. 16-17 day trips? I wouldn’t do that for FedEx, UPS, or UAL let alone for Atlas pay (no offense to Atlas pilots). For single guys I’m sure it’d be a great experience. Young or old. But for someone with a family, especially little ones, making ends meet bagging groceries can be more rewarding.

That life is definitely tough on little kids, it’s not anything close to what military families go through, but it’s tough. That is the main reason that I left when a better opportunity came around. If small kids aren’t in the picture it isn’t that bad. One nice thing about long trips is that you get your flying over with in one big bunch. The 16 days stinks, but those 2 weeks blocks of time off every month are great.
