Quote: That was my point. If you have comorbidities and Corona hastens your demise, then it should be considered a Covid related death. (I'm not talking about murders, car accidents, etc)

My aunt was a nurse in 2 nursing home for 40 years and retired December 2019. I just spoke with her. She told me the great majority of patients in nursing homes are actually in there for years.

There's a wide range of age, and medical reasons why people are put in nursing homes, but the majority are certainly not dying. Many are put there because family members are unable or unwilling to deal with the issues related to their care.

Again, I am not sure where you're getting your data from, but I doubt the majority of the 215,000 US Covid-19 deaths occurred in nursing homes. Yes, the majority of Covid deaths were of people with underlying conditions, but nursing home residents are merely a subset of our country's general population, and because they are in a concentrated setting, their deaths as a percentage of their population subset would no doubt be alarming.

As for your supposed 25% mis-clasiification of Corona deaths... What's the point you're trying to make? Are you saying there's a conspiracy to inflate the number of deaths for some nefarious reason, or are you just highlighting the broken state of our healthcare system, or what?
I think it’s pretty common knowledge even on CNN that a big chunk of covid deaths are from nursing homes. Look at the stats I posted earlier straight from the CDC. If you’re younger than 70 you have a greater chance of dying from about 15 other causes before you die from Covid.

My “supposed” (as you claim) 25% mis-classification of covid deaths are directly from the “experts” and state health officials. They’re not from some third party conspiracy theorist journalist. The only way you can actually believe all 215k deaths are legit is to totally disregard what our experts and public health officials are telling us.

For you to believe all 215k covid deaths are legit then you literally have to assume that our public health officials are lying to us as to how they count covid deaths.

You have 2 options. Either our public health officials are lying to us as to how they count covid deaths and the 215k covid deaths are all legit. Orrrr, our public health officials are telling us the truth about how they count covid deaths and the 215k covid deaths are way inflated. Which is it? Dr. Birx agrees they’re way over inflated and she’s one of the “experts” we’re supposed to listen to. Are you saying she’s lying?

Quote: I flew with a guy a few months back that wore a mask the entire trip. I didn’t like it. The problem for me wasn’t so much that I had a more difficult time than usual understanding him (ESL guy), but it was that fact that I felt a lot of non-verbal communication was lost. If there is a real problem going on with a glance, you can tell if the other guy is nervous, lost or on the same page. I felt like that “communication” was lost, or at least diminished. Just an observation.
I’m sure they feel the same way....

Quote: Alright Captain Chaos, read a little about what I wrote before you lose it. I simply said if another pilot requests you wear one then its common courtesy to comply, especially given the unprecedented times we're currently in. I never said anything about forcing my own mask policy. I did, however, say that I prefer to go maskless - but I'm just one of 15,000 pilots...So no need for me to come out of my bunker although you certainly sound like a tin-foil cap wearing doomsday prepper who worries every day about the government coming after all their freedoms!!
You wear a mask in your car alone dont you?

they have built-in mics and their own flem isn’t being rubbed into their face with a piece of Chinese made, chemical infected cloth. the Chinese gave us this problem and we’ve given them billions of dollars for sweatshop made masks.

if someone is so uncomfortable being out in the world that they insist everyone around them sterilize themselves, they should just stay at home.

when did we become so afraid of the slightest risk that we’re afraid to live.

The argument that masks prevent good cockpit communication is hypocritical given the propensity of cross cockpit communication (speaker on above FL180/headset off and headset off one ear all other times) instead of using the intercom system. If we want to have a serious discussion on safety let’s do that and not pick and choose.

Not that any of either side of the COVID numbers generated are accurate, but more food-for-thought.

About 75,000 more COVID deaths than previously thought

Christ you’re dumb. Apparently reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit. Do you think I wrote “I prefer to go maskless” for dramatic effect? God help us all if you actually made it this far in your career with that sort of intelligence.

I agree. We've been wearing masks for military flying for months now without issue. I haven't found it causing any more significant communication problems than we had in a noisy 60 year old aircraft to begin with. We are always on ANR headsets or screaming cross cockpit.

At first it was “flatten the curve” to relieve the hospitals, and that seems to have worked. Now it’s “slow the spread “. The objective has never been “eliminate the virus”. Originally it was cross-contamination, now it’s aerosolization. At what point do we normalize and let it run its course, or do we move the goal posts again to fit someone’s narrative? Dragging out the full course of the disease is only delaying the inevitable and exacerbating the economic impact. Even the WHO now says locking down has done more damage to the well-being of people than the disease itself.

Eventually we have to get on with life while letting people protect themselves by staying in or using PPE.

No wonder conspiracy theorists think entities have been using a legitimate disease as a means to fuel a power trip, manipulate society, or perform some demented sociological experiment.
