This is phenomenal news! Jason is a good dude. What did RS get us during his term? Not much of anything.

Seriously!?! Just look at his leadership during this Pandemic. He held the line and has essentially followed the will of the pilot group. I don’t know either one but give some credit where credit is due.

How exactly does any MEC officer do anything?

Answer is, they can’t unless they have direction from the MEC. It was the MEC that held the line. Anyone in the same spot would have been directed to do the same thing.

The top down, Chairman is the Captain of the Ship thing departed the pattern with LM, and a stake was put through its heart after TA1. These days the position is basically an office manager.

It is my understanding that almost every committee except for the NC reports to, and is guided directly by, the MEC chairman. In practice, I don't know what that really means... but it leads me to believe the position is still more than just a figurehead aggregating MEC opinion.

Great post... clearly not one sided and guided blindly by dislike for an individual. But, I read it on the internet so it must be true. RS did not much of anything, just ignore the codified COVID protections, the fatigue management improvements, the VEOP with its industry leading take rate, the asked for scheduling flexibility, and the furlough mitigation TA that includes many of the improvements that were sought in section 6 with a temporary give of TLV flexibility. Yup, not much of anything, especially during the last 8 months of pandemic.

According to one of my reps in C1, it was not a difficult decision. "Company man" and "Surrender monkey" are just plain wrong. The only negative comment I could dynamite out of him was "Sometimes RS didn't seem to work hard on things he didn't like, but was told to do"
