Quote: Currently all the Part-timers are in PSM and it is 8 on 20 off (not 28). However Management is looking into having Part-timers at the other bases but if Management decides to do it the schedule will be 9 on (with the 1st and last day being an airline day) and 19 off. Also keep in mind the 1st 6-7 months you will be full time doing 8 on and 6 off. That will cover new hire F/O training, 3 F/O rotations, which will be followed by the normal Capt upgrade. That is one week of Capt ground school, then 3 rotations in the left seat with an Instructor, a week of sims in Dallas (to include the Capt checkride), followed Capt IOE. Once all that is done and you have 100 hour as a Plane Sense Captain, about 2-3 rotations after IOE, then you can go to Part-time status.
I'd jump on a PT spot out of MCO. Hopefully they will consider.

They just announced that there will be a new hire class in August with 2, maybe 3, in the Fall.

I assume a 1000TT requirement gets a red thumb's down from you and called insane because you don't have those minimums - correct?

If I was a passenger on one of their airplanes I'd like knowing the SIC had at least that much experience.

Your view will change once you get some actual experience under your belt.

His objection is a lot more fundamental than that.

You’d love to find out that there are 21 year old new hire regional pilots with less than 1000hrs in airplanes! Certain sim time (50?) counts toward the ATP.

It’s because they have more than enough SIC candidates. 1000TT is just a way to thin the herd.

They want people that already have ATP mins so they don’t use the company for time building and leave before upgrade.

Anyone hear of PS FO's or CAs skipping regionals for lets say JB, SWA, or Spirit? I know some multi time would be needed before making that jump. If airlines are the end goal, would you still need to sit at a regional before moving on to a major? Just wondering if anyone has heard of someone progressing to a major from the single engine turbine and maybe their background/experience/multi time required. I know every case is different, curious to know if its possible. Thanks in advance.
