That WASN'T right on the water, don't you get it?? Yes, in each building, if you have a water view, the rent is higher, but that's true in every building in every location. HKG 20K (nearly $2,700 US) faces a building, not the water, ZERO view at all. HKG 25K (US $3,300+) is a 1-BR, similarly with no view. HKG 38K (nearly US $5,100) for 1-BR with a water view (NOT right on the water), and that's for a grand total of 815 sq.ft.

OH, and don't forget the monthly service fee, either ... which runs from US $120/mo. for a studio to US $175/mo. for a 3-BR (about US $150 for a 2-BR). And this is not for a premium complex, folks -- this is standard.

But your still in a builing that is right on the water in the most exspensive part of town. If that is a fair comparision as to the costs over there I wonder how much all the people in HKG make to afford to live there?

In the pic of the place it appears to be on or close to the harbor....

So what is the rent in the more reasonable parts of town????

And what is "Past...."??

And why are we posting the same thing in 3 threads now? Not to include Flightinfo.

Past is part of the screen name that I couldn't get the link to work on when APC sent it to me. Got another screen name and APC would not resend the original link to PastV1 so i'm stuck with this one.

Would have been easier if Herky would have put his info in one thread!

More reasonable is not in the high rent harbor/financial area.

That is the point 130. Their companies pay their rents, as ours should.

FJ,

was referring to the local folks that live there. And not the girls working Nathan road on my walk home from dinner etc..

Quote: Herky,

Right down on the water in HKG Harbor is exspensive. I don't think it is a valid comparison as to what is really out there outside of the financial/downtown area.

Hey 130,

When you move to Hong Kong where are you going to live? Are you taking your family?

Those prices are NOT for apartments right on the water. Yes, it's true that in each building, if you have a water view, the rent is higher, but that's true in every building in every location, not just the primo areas. HKG 20K (nearly $2,700 US) is a studio facing a building, not the water, with ZERO view at all. HKG 25K (US $3,300+) is a 1-BR, again facing a building, with no view. HKG 38K (nearly US $5,100) is for a 1-BR with a water view (NOT right on the water), and that's for a grand total of 815 sq.ft.

You either face the water, or a building, or a steep hillside, unless you live in Kowloon (downtown). But there's not much acceptable housing in KLN, either -- lots of high-rise sub-standard firetrap tenements, crammed with extended Chinese families, but not much that's up to U.S. standards.
