Quote: As soon as those with similar seniority to you start bidding lines, your reserve bidding horsepower should start increasing. So probably 6-9 months to start getting bits and pieces of what most would consider a desirable reserve schedule- the work block length you want, the days off you want, the RAP start you want if SC, etc etc.
I’ve found that at around 70% in your seat, you will have very few, if any coverage days on reserve. For those not here, that means you get all the dates off that you want, within the parameters of the system of course. I sometimes bid 7 on, 2 off, 7 on, 1 off, 4 on rest of month off and start that cadence early in the month. They pretty much can only DHD you on day 7.

Does that work even if base planning has set the allowable reserve blocks to 3-6?

Guys, as a new hire I have a question regarding that reserve stuff/days off:

My wife wants to move to Netherlands in 4 years from now (we also have European citizenship) and I’d like to know if is there any chance that with a 4 year seniority I can build my schedule to have 21/22 days off in the month (not in a row, of course)?

I’d be commuting from AMS back and forth to the USA and will get the base that gives me a better seniority (LGA most likely).

It might sound a crazy plan but depending on the days off I can get every month, it’d be feasible.

not sure about a full 21-22, but can def get close. I have a buddy that lives in Germany and does that. Based in LGA. Although he plans to move back to the states one day. But something you could do.

Could you elaborate a little more on how this works? I apologize—I’m a little dense and definitely not experienced with FAR 117. I understand you’re bidding to shield from utilization but I don’t fully understand how that works. I definitely don’t understand why they can only deadhead you on day 7.

Legit question, not trolling - why don't you apply to FedEx, and eventually get based in Germany (Cologne, I think)? I know it's not Netherlands, but shorter commute to Germany as opposed to LGA (from AMS).

Quote: Dude you really just make stuff up don’t you. Jr line holders can get 16-17 off easily. Pay sucks compared to an ACMI? Ok buddy. Do us a favor and go back to your ACMI job.
bottom half each NB bid status is getting 85 plus hours each PBS bid award with ZERO ability to trade/drop now. 16 work days for everyone not in the top 40% of a bid status

Do you all work at AA? 18 days of reserve with an inability to move those days.
