Quote: I told them this when they were first negotiating the contract. they said, "well we have to do it one way or the other so we chose this way". I said they should have chosen the other way, and they should have us vote on it, but they didn't care.
At spirit you bid for and are awarded the same RAP for the entire month on your working days. Most junior pilot on your RAP with the same corresponding days available gets called when a trip comes up.

Lineholders can trade trips out of base without restriction.

how do lineholders trade trips between bases? Aren’t there separate reserve grids for each base?

If I’m FLL based get awarded a crappy jr line. I can drop it all as long as the Fll grid is green. Then I can pick up from open time at any base. So if DTW has a three day that’s commutable, I’ll grab that then find other trips anywhere to fill my month back up.

We can’t pick up open time outside of our base, which sucks. Unless it’s “global open time” and then never, ever happens. Crew Services just never utilizes it. But again, our reserve grid and open time system needs an overhaul.

To clarify the other answer, yes there are separate reserve grids so this is a two step process. First you must be able to do a straight drop in your base, then you can pick up any available open time in another base. You cannot do a direct base to base swap.

Not an overhaul. It just needs to be eliminated and replaced with NKs exactly as it’s currently written.

Ok guys, now next time when the negotiating committee tries to sell you on “industry leading” pairing construction and reserve section, can we please start to view such claims with a healthy dose of skepticism lest we have to repeat this mistake again in some form or fashion? For those of you who weren’t here for TA1 that’s exactly what was sold to the group.

Out of base OT being restricted does NOT suck. There are myriad reasons why it's not allowed, primary of which is to prevent seniority abrogation. This should not be allowed much less entertained during JCBA talks.

I hear and completely understand what you’re saying, but there’s some middle ground to be had here. Parameters put in place. A trip sitting in JFK open time for 2.5 weeks that no one wants should be able to be flown by a Newark pilot that wants to pick up. Instead it’s going to burn a reserve. And it’s been there all month. No, that’s fuqing stupid.
