All future hiring at NWA will be thru Mesaba and Compass...2 flow thru agreements are already in place with these airlines....if pilots there do not want to flow up...then street hiring will occur.

I agree with previous post. Yes....there is a flow through / down; but this is not where all the new hires will be coming from (Compass and Mesaba). Compass is not even staffed yet, let alone have enough to flow up to main line. This Compass thing is still a concern to many as to how it will effect main line DC9 / Airbus guys. Not saying they won't hire (they are short now) but the future is not completly clear either.

at compass don't you have to wait 20+ months after making captain before you can flow over. so that will take awhile to kick in.

what does the mesaba flow through say?

Wrong. Those pilots will have freezes for (up to 3 yrs) before eligible for to flow up. They are ramping up hiring at XJ and Compass - they are not going to let them go to NW as soon as they are there.

NWA will likely be street hiring before the first flow pilots ever sets foot on the property. Rumor has it with fewer furlough pilots than expected returning, might see the application process open up as soon as August.

I think most of the movement in the future will be flow down to Compass and Mesaba. NWA management has every intention of getting rid of every DC-9 they can, and replace them with RJ's. Its just a matter of time IMO.

NWA was my first choice back in 1999. They had iron clad scope language and NWA ALPA was unbreakable. While all the other legacy's were giving up their scope for Pay, NWA ALPA knew what would happen if they let RJ's on the property. Well, now, there no different then anybody else.

I just resigned today. It truly is a sad day for me. I thought I died and gone to heaven when I arrived in MSP that fall day in 99. It's a personal choice, and I pray I am doing the right thing!

Good luck to all!

Quote: Why does NWA take so much heat for doing what USairways, United, Delta, American(to a lesser degree) have done with their employee contracts? I might argue that with the saved pension, they "imposed" fewer cuts on their employees. Sure the contract sucks compared to what we had, but please tell me what the alternative was, especially when the airline was losing millions of dollars a day? I get the feeling fellow employees would have preferred to stick their heads in the sand until all the money was gone, and then close the doors. Who wins with that?
NWA management stood side by side with the employees to save their pension in Washington DC, while Delta management made no attempt to push the pension legistlation through Congress. And all I hear is praise for Delta and their management. What gives?
Uh-oh, koolaid has entered the picture. Shades of CAL '83-'85.

Side by side with the employees, give me a break.

Congrats on the resignation.!? (I think?). I flew with one gentleman the other week who said he would hurt me really bad if he found out I was trying to get on at NWA. He, and another pilot who is also with us, are furloughed from NWA, and are not going back. They said it is a horrible place to be right now, and doesn't seem to be getting better.
Also, a United guy just resigned from there the other week. Same story. One is on the edge right now. He thinks it will be around August to make up his mind.
BTW, where are you now? Kalitta?
