NWA Hiring Scoop???

The best airline to work for is the one that hires you, until the next better one does. That, and you will know if you made the right choice when you retire.
10 yrs ago no one would voluntarily go near CAL, and they were viewed with even more disdain than NWA is now. Until they swapped ends several years ago, UPS and FDX were WAY below where the legacies were.
The only thing certain is today's industry darling airline was once a dog and likely will be again in the inevitable cycles of the industry. If we could predict the future we'd all be 747-400 Captains making $200K plus.....

I think most of the movement in the future will be flow down to Compass and Mesaba. NWA management has every intention of getting rid of every DC-9 they can, and replace them with RJ's. Its just a matter of time IMO.
NWA was my first choice back in 1999. They had iron clad scope language and NWA ALPA was unbreakable. While all the other legacy's were giving up their scope for Pay, NWA ALPA knew what would happen if they let RJ's on the property. Well, now, there no different then anybody else.
I just resigned today. It truly is a sad day for me. I thought I died and gone to heaven when I arrived in MSP that fall day in 99. It's a personal choice, and I pray I am doing the right thing!
Good luck to all!

I agree with previous post. Yes....there is a flow through / down; but this is not where all the new hires will be coming from (Compass and Mesaba). Compass is not even staffed yet, let alone have enough to flow up to main line. This Compass thing is still a concern to many as to how it will effect main line DC9 / Airbus guys. Not saying they won't hire (they are short now) but the future is not completly clear either.

Compass flow-up is limited to the following: The pilot must have been with Compass for 30 months AND must have been flying as a CA for 24 months. Compass pilots sign a 12 month training contract. Don't ask me why they wouldn't just apply to mainline after 12 months if so desired. Perhaps there's an unwritten agreement where they'll be overlooked. With NWA hiring so soon, I'm not sure a flow-up would be a good move for someone 30 months from now - near the obvious end up a hiring spree. Whatever will I do?

NWA management stood side by side with the employees to save their pension in Washington DC, while Delta management made no attempt to push the pension legistlation through Congress. And all I hear is praise for Delta and their management. What gives?
RedDog,
There is NO way that guy can work for NWA. Don't fall for it. Even the YES voters KNOW management sucks. If that guy is really a NWA DC-9 captain, he will feel differently since our "New and Improved" schedules are out now. 12 and 13 days off for blockholder? WTF?
The last I checked, my pension is screwed, I'm never at home to enjoy the cable, heat and mortgage payments I make, and most FO's I fly with would have made more if they stayed at the commuters.
Our management didn't stand beside us, they were behind us, and they still can't get enough. They got MORE stock options at the beginning of this month. Delta's CEO turned his bonus down.

New Contract now? Try 2011...at least! Any way I can retire knowing that I didn't vote for this POS. Good luck my friend in 2012[/quote]
Red,
We do appear to be stuck until 2011, but looks can be decieving. Or at least they should to negotiators or a union with some imagination and some balls. I guess I'll put those things on my wish list for Christmas.....

I think you need to take 2007 and subtract 10 years and that comes to 1997.
CAL started a major hiring period in Sept 97 and had no trouble getting guys to leave their current jobs to come here. Now if you said 12 plus I might be inclined to agree with you. But if you are going to state facts get'em right.
