Just a little heads up.
Was going to go to the CFI program with ATP. With help from Cubdriver, ATP only allows those who are going to work for them after they complete their three ratings, in the program.
Kind of crazy they can fill 4 different locations, months in advance, with only people that are going to go to work for them. I wonder how long it is before they open it back up to everyone.
Oh well, time to go some place else.

I think he received it yesterday, I got the same tidbit from them about 6 months ago when I tried to sign up for my CFI and they said sorry bub, we don't train any CFIs who are not going to work for us. Too bad... I really wanted to do it with them as they fit my schedule perfectly. In fact, I cannot find anyone else who fits my schedule and have not gone for my CFI exactly due to this problem. I have put off teaching altogether pretty much because it's too much trouble unless I can do it all in one or two weeks. No wonder there is a shortage of CFIs- they all went to Comair and AllATPs won't train anybody.

they must be making LOTS of money to turn down business like that!!

In their shoes you would see the value of using remaining resources to insure viability. I am not in the market to fly or teach full time, but those who are can still get trained. One has the option of enrolling in an FBO based CFI course, or they can sweat it out at AllATPs as an employee after getting trained. What they are saying in substance is no hobby pilots.

I am in the exact same boat as you. I don't have the time to enroll in a multi month course for just an initial. I am wondering what to do, I found us flight academy in Denton, TX. But I don't really know much about them, and I am a little hesitant to roll out there from ca for an unknown school.
What to do.

Oh, and I found out ATP would only take people going to work for them yesterday, after I have been talking to them for the last two months to sign up, it comes out yesterday when I mention something to him about it. Kind of makes me wonder what I have done if I didn't say anything and paid them their 1000 and showed up. "Oh, and by the way....welcome aboard, move to Flordia."

Yeah they never said anything to me !! should I just keep quite and show up for training

Yeah, or ask them before you go so you don't get screwed one way or another...

Couldn't you just get the training and then quit? I mean, you are still paying for the instructor training. You don't owe them anything.

Yeah you could, but you are going to have to lie about really wanting to work there (not that big a deal, but still a concern in terms of violating your personal ethics), submit the job application (something of a big deal, depending on how much it entails), and have curious phone calls placed to your current employer about how good a worker you are, which for me is undesirable. There may be other reasons I missed and these are just what comes to mind. I would tend to think this trick has been tried also, which I am sure they will guard against if they are serious about their rule. If someone tried the trick I would be curious whether it worked, but you risk losing your money or who knows what else, and I personally am not willing to try it.
