What are the current destinations you fly into and how long are the layovers? I saw some older posts about this from 5 years back that mentioned ORD-ANC for cargo and HNL for pax.. not sure if that is all out of date. So is everyone flying a mix of Cargo and pax now? Do you have choices in what/where you want to fly?

Could you post an example roster for a typical month?

I saw the commuting policy changed a couple years ago, is it still using ANA only to the US now?

How many pilots do you currently have? hiring plans? I know I am above the minimums but DO they ever actually hire regional FO's with thousands of hours but no TPIC?

Anther thing I couldn't find anywhere in this thread.. How does the contract work for upgrades? Example.. if you upgrade in 3 years, do you go to 3yr CA pay? Or do you start a new 5 year contract at yr 1 CA? Every 5 year contract renewal, do you start over at yr 1? Or do you stay where you were as far as pay?

thanks

As far as the fleet and destinations, the wikipedia page is up to date. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Japan

Layovers range from 12 hours to 30 hours. Sometimes on a cargo trip you will get 2 days off due to limited cargo flights on Sundays. All pilots are doing mixed cargo/pax schedules. The ratio that I have seen has been around 60/40 heavy on the cargo. Of course there are those "blessed" few who do almost all pax trips.

About the only thing typical for a schedule is that you have to have 1 day off every 7 days. Other than that it could be 1 day trips to China and back up to 6 day cargo trips.

They will try to use ANA primarily but will put you on another star alliance carrier if need be. I normally will take ANA to ORD and then on one of the UAL connection carriers to CVG. Remember, ANA has flights to ORD, JFK, IAD, LAX, SFO, SEA, and SJC. So they will try to get you to those cities if possible and then connect you to home.

You can do ZED fare tickets as well. I am not sure how those work as I don't go that route, but I believe they have recently added DAL as an authorized carrier for those.

Dom or someone else could probably let you know better on that issue.

Thanks again. Was curious about that, kinda just wondering for FF mileage reasons.. I would be 2 legs from Japan no matter what anyway since DAL cancelled my direct flight last year, so I guess it doesn't matter all that much. I ZED on ANA from NRT-BKK occasionally so I'm familiar with that. ZED is not a route I would want to go for this job getting home though.. standby, middle seat, coach for 12 hours (no thanks)!

Now time to contact CREW and see if I can get anywhere..

I'm not too up to date with the whole ZED thing since I've never used them (in this company that is) but I will tell you what I know. You have to plan ahead because it takes a while to get them, I think it is ten days ahead of time. They are also airline and route specific and cannot be transferred (some guys have said that they have been able to change them with the gate agents but I don't have first hand knowledge) so you need to buy a plethora of tickets to cover all the carriers and routes that covers the sectors you want to fly, you can get a refund for the un-used tickets but it takes a couple of months to get the refund.
Frequent Flyer program: I just went ahead and signed up for the ANA mileage program, the rewards program is pretty good and since you will be commuting back and forth from the US, you will accumulate miles and status pretty fast. I put the miles to good use every year going on vacation with my family.

Upgrade: You will get a new 5 year contract starting from year 1.

We are round about 200 pilots now and what they say is that they want to double the number. Attrition will start to pick up again as guys go back to UCAL

To All The Good Folks that have recently interviewed in Tokyo,

I would like to know if there have been any changes to the profile for the simulator assessment, and what the most recent bank of questions are being utilized during the panel interview?

In 2008 the written exam consisted of 25 multiple choice questions from the ATP written database. In addition, the MMPI was administered as well.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

The best to all.

According to CREW, their average mins are 5000+ with some experience on heavy stuff/737/320s... I meet all their mins, just barely, but was told I was not selected - asked why, and received a very friendly reply, which I did appreciate. Just a heads up for the "low time" guys looking at this...
