A couple of things brought up in SEA from others that I talked to after the sim..... Seemed like many had problems with their instrument scan. RJ drivers are used to looking at one PFD, and lose that old scan quick. Many complained on how pitch sensitive the sim was. As PuppetMaster stated.....trim, trim, trim! Finally, a few said they didn't know where things were in the cockpit. Things like flap indicators, gear indicators, etc... which led to them omitting instruments and getting off altitude. It all goes back to putting in the time to prep.
@PuppetMaster...looking forward to it!

I don't particularly think that eval failures are higher depending on the fact that you were an RJ driver before. After all, we have a lot of former RJ drivers flying the line today, it seems to be equally tough to pass this interview regardless, I interviewed with three other pilots, all captains, 737, 747(classic), MD11 and I was the only one hired...! But the scanning of a hybrid panel (part EFIS, part steam) seems to be a problem, specially if you have been flying nothing but steam or nothing but EFIS for the past few years. The other day we were at an air show and I approached some folks from a flight school that were there, I took a look at a C172 that was there and there were nothing but screens in this thing, I can see how somebody that learns to fly like this and then continues his/her career with EFIS a/c (it be an RJ or an A380) would have trouble to scan properly being placed on a hybrid cockpit like the 76. As PB said, know your profiles down cold and if you haven't flown any steam at all (or haven't done it in a long time) maybe some sim time would be recommendable.
Congrats PB, see you at little Italy or the Barge...!

There is no freighter side anymore, the two operations were merged over two years ago. There is no age limit listed on the application. Medical tests have been covered on this thread numerous times, it evolves stress test, electroencephalogram, numerous eye tests, hearing test, blood work, X-rays, sonograms....! Think NASA
I would recommend to go back a couple of years worth of information on this thread and you will find all the information you need and some you didn't think you needed.

Hello everybody.
I’m not a big poster here, but was recently made aware of AJX by a colleague who is going there next month.
I would like to thank everybody here for their contributions and also on pprune’s site.
Tons of info here. Haven’t read it all, but getting there. A special Thank you to Mr.Dominican.
Just got a few questions, before I fill out the app. with crew. Was going to use crew as I got the impression it was the best choice for medical insurance for the family in the US.
With AJX’s apparent need for pilots(double in size?) combined with US pilots leaving(are they?)AJX to go home these days, is it likely that a Pay/benefits improvement will be seen at AJX in the future?
To me the pay looks ok. Days off(at home with family),is more important for me.
-Medical. Anybody passed with a Incomplete Right Bundle Branch, or is this disqualifying?
-Vision. Using reading glasses (+1.5).Is this ok?
-On Crew’s application page there is a lot of flight time to fill out. Does this have to be down to the minute accurate, or will you be asked by AJX at a later stage in the hiring process to present “super accurate” logbook numbers? Or is what you gave crew on their application ,set in stone?
Asking as I’m overseas right now (for a while) and only got my last logbook with me.
Hard to get all those numbers (completely) accurate, with logbooks, 7 time zones away. ---For the 737 is a grand total ok ,or should it be divided into 400/500/and so on?
-Valid Jet Aircraft Command Rating-Will a FAA ATP LR JET do?
(Haven’t flown in the US since 1995)
Personally I find the commuting contract with Air Japan (much)more tempting/interesting than a crash pad in Phoenix with SWA the next 3 years.
Thanks in advance.
From an old fart(50),but guess that isn’t disqualifying?
FAA ATP LR JET,JAA FCL ATPL(B737 sic only),FAA and JAR Class 1 Medical, TT:9200,B737:4610,Turbine PIC:1045.(Correction,:1045:03)
Cheers.

A number of pilots have left after being recalled to AA, UAL, USAir, there are a handful of furloughed pilots left but they are pushing it as long as they can. One more guy is looking for a job back in the US because he is in his early 30's so it makes sense for him. The rest of us old farts are staying put. I don't really believe in the "nothing but blue skies ahead" notion as it relates to this business.
They haven't announced any changes to the T&C'S, classes are being filled as it is so I don't think the attrition is worrisome to them quite frankly.
-Medical. Anybody passed with a Incomplete Right Bundle Branch, or is this disqualifying?
I don't think any of us can answer that question, maybe CREW. Can guide you on that regard. You will be taking a stress test as part of the pre employment medical.
-Vision. Using reading glasses (+1.5).Is this ok?
Yes

There is no way around a very detailed work on regards to the application, you will need to have your logbooks Fedex to you and do the homework, the way the Japanese look at the accuracy of the application process is the way they look at your demeanor and attention to detail in general! rounding up numbers or giving them inaccurate data at the beginning and they just go to the next application. And applicants they do have....!
-For the 737 is a grand total ok ,or should it be divided into 400/500/and so on?
How are they asking on the application? (Sorry, I don't really remember) if they are asking for it separate then you should do it that way. But again, get guidance from CREW in that regard, I don't really remember those details, it's been a while....!
-Valid Jet Aircraft Command Rating-Will a FAA ATP LR JET do?
(Haven’t flown in the US since 1995)
I am almost positive because it doesn't specify that it needs to be a transport category, but I would ask CREW along with your other concerns

I hear you....! There are a lot of OLD FARTS. Out here that are staying put and not riding this hiring wave, as for me, after being in this business for over 30 years, I just don't believe the term "Hiring for the foreseeable future"

Thank You Dominican.
Appreciate the quick reply, and good info.
Sent an email to crew with my medical, and command rating questions.
I’ll post back here, when I hear from them.
Right now I’m stuck in Europe the rest of the year, but I might have to make a short trip back to TX to get my logbooks.Either that, or wait till January with my application. Probably not a smart move though?
