On Delta, International flights only have coach and "Business Elite".. The product is quite good.. It's not Singapore or Emirates, but it's better then UAL Intl. First...

There really isn't one part of the Sim that stands more then another. Like I tell my buddies before the interview here, try to do some hand flying on the line in the terminal area.. Even if you are on airbus..

I had not flown round instruments in awhile, so the whole flap retraction and extension thing based on speed bugs was a bit odd, but it comes right back to you... I think a big key is communication.. Talk a lot, and make the other pilot really feel in the loop.. They are very sensitive to the language barriers here.. Remember, we have people from Australia!! he he

You really hold the key to the job in your hand with the Sim profile.. They know you have it and they expect you to know it, period.. Put it on the back of the toilet and have a daily read through.

Oh, and I would TOTALLY ASSUME that this goes without saying, but I have heard some stories that just kill me.. Like with ANY job you actually want, take the time to learn about the company and about Japan.. On the ANA web site there is actually a great section about Japanese customs, food, climate etc.. I mean you would not walk into UPS or FedEx and not know the basics right?? Well some idiots do here.. It wastes an interview slot and everyones time.. oh and ****es me off!!

Keep the questions coming.. Happy to help people who WANT to be here..

Cheers,

BC

There is a lot of activity with Ethiopian. Met a Boeing rep. in Addis Ababa in June who was helping them prep for the arrival of the dreamliner. No idea who is going to get it first.

Just sent my Resume to CReW. After flying ancient 74 classics for the last 6 months I am unimaginably excited to have an opportunity to get back to the modern age of aviation equipment, i.e. glass, fms, and quality mgmt.

Just got back from Tokyo. Had a good time. Was told I was successful. Just waiting on the medical results.

Day one- Medical 4.5 hours

Day two- Written test, MMPI, Board Interview and SIM.

Seems to be a change in the Board Interview. Have read and been told pretty light on the technical side. Not the case anymore. A good 15 minutes on , turbulence, de-icing procedures, Jepp Charts, ICAO holding procedures, RVSM, Class B, G, D airspace.

Went through PARC:

8000 hours TTL. 2200 PIC Jet. 1100 widebody. (currently furloughed)

Six weeks from when I applied to notification of interview date.

FO position.

There was an RJ Capt going through when I interviewed.

I had a friend go through a few weeks ago he had a corporate background and had completed MD11 school before being furloughed. He was told he was unsuccessful while there. I dont think he did very well on the tech portion of the interview panel. He felt his SIM work was solid.

By chance were you given a tentative start date or time frame to start training? My background is similar to yours (but not furloughed yet, but will be in the next few months) and I am very interested in this contract. However, I have some obligations that would keep me stateside until February. I don't want to apply too early and certainly not too late.

Thanks for sharing your experience and congratulations.

Congrats fogrunner. Sent my app to PARC and looking forward to the opportunity to interview.

What kind of questions are on the written test?

Did six weeks seem to be the average for most guys to get the interview call?

Any other suggestions for a successful interview?

My background is:

10,500 TTL. 5600 PIC Jet. B737 Ck Airman.

Nothing official yet. Waiting on medical results. PARC told me 50% don't make it past the SIM/Interview Board, and 30% don't pass the medical. So I am still in limbo. PARC said November class date, however, that is nearly full so probably next year.

extended over water ops, hydroplaning, alternates etc...

Seems to be about 4-6 weeks might be shorter for some

PPRUNE has some good points about the interview. I also did some reading on interviewing with Japanese companies. I did a lot of research on ANA. I guess there have been a few folks recently who have showed up to the interview without knowing much about the company or the process. Needless to say they did not get very far.

Congrats on something coming your way.

Hey thanks, just keeping my fingers crossed that nothing pops up on the medical. It is all "pie in the sky" until I have a firm offer.

Fog, Thanks for putting more revised interview information on here.. It had come as a bit of a shock for those of us here about the tech. part.. It's good to get the info out there so guys can come prepared..

Keep your sprits up.. The medical is not do or die, as many are asked to get a re-test in their home country.. The interview and Sim are the "major" hurdle, so be proud of yourself!

Hope it all turns out well, and to see all of you guys online!

Cheers,
