Ive set and waited for a thread about the resignation letter the Union put out but as of yet there hasn't been one. So I thought I would give my two cents on the subject.
I find it amazing that a the guy who started all of this pain and angst(LK) has actually become the Union's poster boy for cooperation and love. Evidently the former grievance committe chairman, who had to wait a week or two to take his management position because he was sitting in a grievance against the Company, and the current greivance chairman position, CB, are BFFs. Now flash foreward a year or two and we have the NWA/Delta merger and ALPA merging their membership lists. They realize that they have some folks that are on the NWA list and also on the FedEx list. So they contact the local FedEx office and inquire as to why. Seems like somewhere in the deal a former NWA lawyer, that is currently a FedEx lawyer, is notified by our local management team and some former colleagues of the problem and there is a disciniplinary action started against one of our crew members. This action is championed by our resident XO/Special Projects Offficer/Right hand man to the SCP, you pick the title. Come to find out there is a real problem with the resignations that our new hires were supposed to submit to the company, including atleast one class of newhires that were allowed by our former SCP to finish training before they had to submit their resignation. Then throw the issue that nobody knew who was actually responsible for keeping/tracking the resignations and you have a real mess. Then, when they figure out this is a widespread problem, the Union and LK touch shwanses and come up with an amnesty program. But I am still waiting for the Company to acknowledge that there is actually a program out there.
Just out of personal interest and a lack of trust for both sides, if I were involved in this issue I would not do anything until I saw the FCIF from Big Zero. Or his XO/Special Projects Officer/Assistant SCP/ACP.

BS to ask guys to give up theoretical outside employment right before you furlough them. Bush league stuff.

FEXFNG,

Do you know if there is any threat of the "perps" having to repay the moneys to their former(?) airline? Or...Is that an unrelated issue? Or, is that even an issue?

From what I understand the first/currently only guy that got disciplined was told he would have to pay back the payment he recieved from NW. Sounds like he's the only one that will though. Wonder if he has a lawyer yet???

Caution...
I wouldn't even consider saying hello to LK or CB without having a lawyer present. Don't trust either one of them as far as I could throw them.

The whole letter, and the timing of it, seemed really bizarre and I knew there was some backdoor reason for it. I just didn't know what it was at the time. Thanks for the info...I hope our crewmember has looked into independant counsel.

1) everyone affected should have gotten and read the email from the union regarding this settlement agreement - last week.

2) peoples' jobs are at stake and anything they write on a public forum (thinking they are posting "anonymously") probably will be used against them.

3) refer to #1, the email suggests you CALL the union directly to discuss it if you are affected - discussing it in written form on a public forum is not smart - whether you've done anything wrong or not.

so.......now that everyone on here has been notified of what's going on...

I repeat - the discussion on the topic here on a public forum should stop now.

Revert to voice comm with the union - or discuss the matter directly (by phone) with your buds who may be affected.

The way I read the initial post fron FNG, I got the impression that the main point here was that OUR Union started this problem by turning these names over to the company. Why should anyone trust what the Union or this Message line from CB has to say? I still haven't seen anything from the Company that confirms or denies the existence of said agreement. I would agree with FNG that you should wait to see the companies side of this before you call anyone. Just my opinion....
