I find nothing wrong with loans. When it comes to flight training, its just like having a house mortgage or a leased car. If you can't afford to cover that Porsche all at once, you can find a way to go about doing that and still live your life. As long as one is not being outrageous and take a $140 K for flight training.

Wasted education? How do you figure? Being educated could never be a waste if its useful to you! That is just complete garbage anyway you look at it. An aviation degree might be unuseful but he acquired it and majored in accounting. He sought what he needed and went about doing it for his benefit.

Here's how it works.

No degree = no job / low paying job to get experience.
Experience = sometimes get job
Degree = get you in the door
Degree + Experience = Middle Management

Does that make sense to anyone? Are you saying he got an aviation degree but majored in accounting?

A degree is great for personal growth and all, but if it doesn't give you marketability, it's useless (in other words, a waste) in terms of employment.

Well
Quote: And why would you call it wasted? Oh that's right because you always assume the negative. To you an Aviation degree is a waste but guess what? I never said that I majored in aviation in college. You know what they say about people who ASSume? And yes I worked for every penny of my tuition as well and no my major was not aviation. I got a degree in accounting and did my flying on the side through the same school. Idiot.

Good for you. Looks like you will be able to eat after all. Judging by your attitude I did just ASSumed that you were a total avdork,, sorry.

With a house mortgage you get a house that you can live in. Wasting the money on flight training gets you a hole in your wallet and a bruised ego. In the end the house you can sell. You can guess what the pilot training is good for.

Regardless, he probably got the aviation degree to advance his knowledge. It shouldn't be arguable though. If that's the route that he chose, he should know why & thats perfectly fine. The advices that I get from you guys on this forum is vast and incredibly useful Uncle Bose. I just hate when people seek to be so negative about others descisions when you dont know that person and their reasons for such descisions. You can always give advice which may be a turning point to him/her. Dont have to downplay them like their some J*ckass. That's what discourage people and trust me, some people have that mindstate where they can just be discouraged from whatever they wanted to do. Its just life. I read a book by Robert P. Mark called Professional Pilot Career Guide. He noted every step he went through in his career and couldnt stop mentioning how people can gain knowledge in aviation forums, but some people are just so discouraging which also had him backtracked.

....And once again that's your personal view. I know people who've made incredible sums of money off aviation and others who are making it their. Now what's your point? If you actually think like that, what's the point of getting info fromthis forum?

Here's another point: he didn't get an aviation degree. He got an accounting degree.

The argument started from the point that he got an aviation bachelor degree, not the fact he acquired an accounting Masters degree after!!
