Then there is my age. I’m pushing 32 and feel that I am running out of time. So I was looking into going to ATP which will give me 115 multi for not that much more money and much faster. However the reviews I have been reading on certain ATP locations are just scary. I understand Las Vegas ATP does not have many planes thus it takes longer to complete than advertised. Does anyone have any knowledge of the Phoenix ATP? Good/Bad? I’m from Utah so I kind of wanted to stay on the western half of the country, guess it really doesn’t matter though.

Brother,
My advice to you is to go to All ATPs in Jacksonville ( or anywhere ) ! I did it too back in 2004. I am 44 and still shooting toward my goal -- fly for living. Don't get discouraged with your age. You will get everything you need in short period of time in that school.

Been to Richmond location twice. Not the best location but has everything you need. Busy but not busy enough to wait .6 on the groud for the airlines.

Ray, Thanks! So I'm very new to the civilian side of flying. Did you get stuck on the ground for .6? Let me guess...you are charged for that time? Or do they write it off as the cost of doing business?

most flight schools will charge you as soon as the engine starts running... Thats why I always try and get in the aircraft, and do my checklists on the roll. Saves time and money.

Unfortunately you get charged. They are very specific when it comes to block time. For example for the ATP you get like 2 4 hours flights. If your instructor accidentally goes over you are charged for that flight time. I don't necessarily agree with it but at RDU you will lose .6 off your next lesson. But some guys are from there and only want to train at RDU which is why it is so small. They literally have a closet with a sim (no exaggeration). Richmond is nice although it isn't a solo location (meaning they just have an office) but you can run up and be first in line for take off almost every time.
