Quote: I don't think he was 'tossed back'... sounds like he never flew. I got that he was called to return and then told sorry before he got back.

Sucks, but it's not the 'use 'em for peak and crap on them' story you told.

Actually I flew for almost 6 months and built nearly 300 hours in the Piaggio. I was called to return to active flying status on my regular schedule then about 4 days before I was to return I was called and told nevermind. And you are right I never did get back to the airplane. They pre-empted my return so it was more of a continuous unemployment with one teaser of hope in the middle.

I am enjoying sleeping till noon and playing video games all day! Not enjoying switching my beer to domestic cans but sacrifices must be made!

Avantair Recalls Furloughed Pilots | Aviation International News

This is good news, I heard a rumor a month ago that things weren't looking very good again over there. I am glad to hear that everyone is headed back to work!

Even better news:

Avantair pilots unionize

Avantair's announcement

80% yes vote from a company whose pilots have soundly rejected unionization efforts in the past. One wonders why...

I can recall very distinctly being fired unceremoniously by Avantair for 17 major violations against the company...every one a wild, blatant false charge. Turns out that they thought I was one of several people attempting to unionize there; several of us were fired. When they realized they'd selected the wrong people, I was invited back to work.

The charges they came up with were ridiculous...bending a flap over a GPU, things like that. One of them involved refusing to take a flight...when I arrived to take the flight and found the aircraft dismantled and all over the hangar floor. It all magically went away when they figured out I wasn't part of any effort to unionize.

They've had a union coming for a long time.

How rigid are they on living 2 hours from the gateway? Like say you lived 3 hours away would that be considered a deal breaker?

As long as you can make your flight out of your base, you will be fine. If you live that far away, you might consider the 14/14 sched. That way your ony doing that once a month. Just a thought.
