Quote: If they offer you newbs a "Familiarization Flight" be sure you say you want to sit on the jumpseat of a 777 for 15 hours, to see Dubai.

I'll make it worth your while.

Heck, you might even get the landing.

But then you'll have to buy the beer....
Are you taking us to Barasti to hang out with EK Flight attendants? Haha

Quote: Global = Global Hawk?

If so, how many of your hours? From indoc class last week, straight from the CP: "I don't think we'll ever consider drone pilots."* If your TT and/or IP times minus RPA time are not competitive, then perhaps you did end up in the unqualified stack. Also, which is most recent? If you're currently/most recently flying RPAs, then your flight currency (i.e., lack thereof) could be at issue.

Of course, this could also be the case that many, many others have made here that there's a tall stack of apps being waded through right now. Other than sitting in the room last week and hearing the CP make that statement, I have no insight into how folks are selected to interview. I have no opinion on whether excluding RPA time is "right" or "wrong," just that it is evidently the policy at DAL.

*I'm pretty sure the intent was that drone hours/experience are excluded from consideration of pilot hours/experience, not that anyone who has ever flown an RPA is unhireable.
Quote: Im pretty sure he means global express. the AF has 3 globals that they fly around in an undisclosed location doing communication network bridging. I did it in 2010, it was a blast. The only bad part is the location.
Quote: Is that the BACN? (Mmmmmmm, BACN....)

If so, my bad for misinterpreting....
No worries brother. I was flying the E-11A Global Express carrying the BACN payload that Ghilis was talking about. We brought the 4th one to the AOR last fall. The BACN gig was a pretty good deal.

I was asking about the tiers cause I must have got tossed in the junk mail. I was just really excited I got the message to fix something and then crickets……..

Last time I ran into a bunch of them it was outdoors at the Irish Village, watching the last World Cup matches 4 years ago. Great fun that!

Im sold on the idea So how does a new hire convince the company to send them on a familiarization flight on an airplane theyre not going to fly? Would love to see the flight deck of the 777 and see how that compared to the -400, I hear its a lot more room for the pilots up front but a lot less comfort for IRO seat / jumpseats.

The jumpseats may not be quite as comfortable as the 767-400, (in my opinion none are comfortable) but there is more room. Luckily the J/S is only occupied for T/O and Landing if you've got more than two crew.

There are two lie down bunks and reclining chairs upstairs for Pilot crew rest, and 8 more bunks in the back for F/A crew rest.

Tell the company you need to see what you're missing, to keep you motivated!

Timbo, Timbo! There are -400 other than the 767. Pretty sure he was talking about the 747-400. Just had to pull your chain a little. Happy 4th to all from Bermuda. Retirement is great!

Quote: Interesting. My buddy got the email last night, he called this morning and got an Aug 4th interview. He must have snagged the last early Aug.
Dang. I waited until 0915. Didn't want to seem too anxious.

I've never been on a 747 so I have no idea what their jumpseats look like.

At DL South, the -400 means 767.

Stupid me...

That's why we buy them at Duty Free and take them to the room. I think Heineken is only about $15/12 pack at Duty Free, but at the Irish Village, about $8 each!
