Quote: Slight change of topic, but can anyone tell me if there's any time given during the 6 weeks of training to travel home and check on the family? If so, is it positive space, or do we already have jumpseat ability on weekends?

Most of my class had a 10 day break, they gave us positive space home (to JB destinations or you could jumpseat). Later on, I had a 5 day break in sims and jumpseated home for a few days.

When did you start? Also, not really important, but more of a curiosity question; when do spouse/companion passes start?

My class was given the option of a 10 day break right after indoc. (it went by seniority)

Quote: I believe you can call crew services and pick up something that way. I know this is the case for PTO. The PTO will then go back into your bank.
Quote: I'm not 100% sure but I think I've moved a UTO by contacting scheduling. I might be confusing that with moving a PRL so I could pick something up. I forget.

It can't hurt to call and ask.
You can probably do anything through crew services that they will approve. I was referring more to automated actions through FLICA. Those are definitely out of the question

April. Spouse could travel JB from the beginning but ID90's/Zeds on other airlines start after 6 months.

Classes this summer did not have a break in training. The current class had between no break and almost 3 weeks. You find out if the break is available on Day 1, and you bid on it just like you bid on equipment.

There is nothing to stop you from jumpseating or driving home on your breaks between sim phases (usually just a couple days), but that's not what the breaks are designed for and you'd run the risk of falling behind the pace training. You'll only get positive space to a jB city for one of the programmed breaks.

If any JB guys/gals are in MCO any time this week, let me know! I'm at JBU doing the CTP course and would be more than open to meeting up!

Thank you... Is every weekend off during the 6 weeks in general? I recall from my previous initial training, guys flying home Friday evenings and rushing back on Sundays for the Monday ground school. (Not the best idea, but some were able to do it...)

For me, Ground school was Monday- Saturday (first 2 weeks). After that, your can be scheduled for any day of the week. Don't qoute me, but I believe they try and give a few blocks of 3 and 4 days off in a row.
