Quote: I remember OASL quite well, glad I no longer have to return there or OASA. OASA was just plain crazy getting into at times.
Yes it is!!! It is even worse getting out of. These places are a complete TOLD nightmare. My TOLD pencil gets proportionally fatter the more I want out of a place.

Oh, the days of FE's and their fat pencils, SKE turn guides and TOLD cards paper clipped to the dash....

A new system seniority list
came out today (on FLICA) and shows 802 NKS pilots with the last group hired on July 1st. I was hired in January and now have over 100 folks below me on the list.

With the recent announcement of additional A321's coming in 2015 there is every reason to believe that hiring at the current pace (or greater?) will continue for the foreseeable future.

Hopefully this thread can continue on its intended course.

Quote: By chance....did you interview and miss the cut because of the shrink eval? That was a strange experience and in my opinion all pilots are nuts.
And of course because I point out the ineffectiveness of the shrink eval you assume I got shot down due to it...

Sorry bub- but no. I've actually never interviewed with Delta and never made a strong attempt to obtain one. When I got hired here you guys thought you were going to be a part of the USair family and only Spirit and AirTran were hiring out of my other preferred carriers. Spirit called first.

What you view as the best fit for you doesn't mean it's the same view for others. Even on the right side of 40 I've got no desire to go to the bottom of a +12,000 pilot group with a horrid (for me) junior base and little movement in the last 5 years. I haven't worked a Christmas since I've been here and I don't plan on breaking that streak. I like my quality of life now, not the hazy promise of it sometime in the next 10 years.

Also- maybe you view Spirit as less "stable" than that legacy job of yours but I'd beg to differ. Just because the product offered is different doesn't make it inferior- ask Sam Walton's grandkids. Spirit has shown consistent profitability, is wowing Wall Street and carries no debt on the balance sheet. Ask Lobaeux...he gets it. I don't think he liked the idea of being your furlough fodder either...

Heard yesterday from someone in the training department that hiring will be ramping up to 30 a month in anticipation of the new rest and duty time rules.

+1

Well, I'm not on the right side of 40, but there is no way, no how, I want any part of the Delta Stepford Pilot syndrome. Mr. WhiteMale's attitude exudes one of the prime reasons I have zero desire to be part of that nonsense. Also, like you said, Gator.....not interested in being furlough fodder at the bottom of 12K pilots. Oh let's not forget, DAL's bases have zero to offer me personally, so that's another fine reason. Hell, if I wanted to be part of some ridiculous Legacy machine, I'd look towards United or Airways (er...American....or whatever they're planning on becoming) before I'd even consider DAL.

Hey fellas....I am stuck in Afghanistan. My tone must have seemed out of line. I honestly mean nothing negative towards you or NKS. This isn't even my thread so I should not have walked in your house and put my feet up on your table. My apologies.... Lobaeux and I drifted because we shared a common bond. Flying planes into hostile lands can do that to people. I hope to see you out on the line soon.... DAL is full of terrific dudes just like any other airline. Please don't let me misrepresent the 12000+ guys at DAL.
